This will no doubt be big news tomorrow morning in Korea - a country where being a woman can get you beaten up. Via YTN news#이수역_폭행남 #이수역_집단폭행 #이수역_폭행남 pic.twitter.com/voTLnpXKjj

male reactions to this horrific misogynistic crime:
— Gost (@godspeedos) 14. November 2018
"they probably did something to deserve it"
"isn't this because they hate feminists and not because they hate women?"#이수역_폭행남 pic.twitter.com/BOUSFWZtsd
many news outlets mention that the two sides have to be heard to make a decision as if a bleeding head along with misogynistic threats isn't enough for us to decide who is the victim and who is the abuser#이수역_폭행남
— Gost (@godspeedos) 14. November 2018
wait naver's trending #1 was "이수역 폭행남" translating to "Isu Station abusive men" just a moment ago and now it's just "Isu Station"?? wtf is this erasure pic.twitter.com/nocW1CYOx3

An online petition, launched just today, has already garnered over 200,000+ signatures. It reads "Victim(s) attacked just because they had short hair without makeup" #이수역_폭행남 https://t.co/N8vv8KI2aT pic.twitter.com/6W5xvYFOIP

some excellent points made by korean twitter that I wanted to share with y'all:
— Gost (@godspeedos) 14. November 2018
- while I'm glad the blue house petition has been picked up it's embarrassing that our (korean women) response is to make a petition instead of trusting the police
- korean men are commenting after only reading the headline of the Isu station crime and what they say the most is that "what did they [the feminists] say this time?" as if it's okay to beat someone up if women don't say the things they want to hear

Date: 2018-11-14 08:07 pm (UTC)and ofc male police officers will always support trashy men. it's sad that as a woman you can't even trust the police anymore.

Date: 2018-11-14 08:43 pm (UTC)Its ridiculous that men think its okay. That violence is a normal and warranted reaction to women not satisfying their expectations. Its absurd that they compare their clothing getting rumpled to a womens head being smashed in.
When the police fail to protect victims, dont go through the police.

Date: 2018-11-15 03:25 am (UTC)my heart goes out to these women, they should be able to exist in peace. the audacity of man to assume that a woman that doesnt exist for his existence shouldn't exist at all is beyond me. this is engrained sociopathic behavior and it's fucking disgusting.

Date: 2018-11-15 08:44 am (UTC)i’ve met a lot of men living in seoul who, even when i break down blatant things like stalking, molka, abusive language (just today an old man started cussing me out and calling me a crazy bitch in the elevator because the elevator stopped at one extra floor!) to the less obvious things like power play in work situations (like my old male coworkers not believing me when i relay requests from our boss). like, i get that there is a very vocal “angry” feminist movement in korea rn but those women are TINY minority, and i try to explain to all the men i meet that this anger is the result of years of aggression coming to a boiling point... but most men just don’t get it.
being a foreign woman in korea means i get a pass for being a feminist a lot of the time, because they kind of expected it from foreigners. but the absolute bullshit my feminist korean friends (male and female) but up with is insane.

Date: 2018-11-15 01:17 pm (UTC)That financial boycott of men @lizanka23 suggested is actually a pretty good idea. It's true that you can't avoid spending money on them entirely but we've seen how effective speaking with your wallet can be and as women we can make an effort to spend our coins on women and female-owned businesses and initiatives as much as possible. Social mobility, financial resources, access to women and children - strip men of everything until they man up and do better tbh.
