On November 5 broadcast of JTBC “Please Take Care of My Refrigerator,” top balladeer Wheesung appeared as a guest. During the show, the singer revealed that for the past 20 years, he has been on a diet.

The singer gave an explanation for his obsession for dieting. He said, “I eat too well. When I was young, I could easily eat food serving for over 4 people in one sitting. Instead of enjoying the taste of food, I like to just shove it all in.”

One particular story that caught everyone’s attention was Wheesung talking about the time he took dieting to extreme.

The singer begun, “I once lost about 30 kilograms in just over two months. Every day, I did 3000 jumping jacks, 40 minutes of weightlifting, and ran 40 laps. However, since I had lost too much weight in such a rapid time period, I eventually gained it all back. Ultimately, I decided to go back to this particular method, but I ended up fainting due to malnutrition.”

He concluded, “nowadays, I eat one meal a day. When I feel like I’ve gained weight, I eat chicken breast, only.”

I feel like he's been open about his appearance and weight in the past, he must know how unhealthy this is.

me too, buddy, so much me too.

except I haven't mastered one meal a day, or even the 8 hours of eating window. I blame exercise ... and drinking.

Since I’ve been fired from work I’ve only been eating twice a day cause I sleep the rest of it so I lost some weight. Not healthy at all but I’m just glad I’m losing weight some way lol

It really irritates me when idols give specific details for unhealthy diets/weight loss, especially when they acknowledge that those habits were unhealthy and even dangerous. Kids look up to idols and copy them, and it feeds into this toxic diet and body shame culture.
I'm reminded of Anne Hathaway in Les Mis refusing to talk about her diet for the role because she didn't want anyone copying what she did since it was so drastic.

yeah, on the one hand more men talking about their problems with disordered eating and bringing awareness to it is a good thing, but he definitely didn't have to go into detail about it bc it can definitely inspire others.
