When the track list for IZ*ONE debut album came out, I commented on the post that the title song was produced by MOSPICK. MOSPICK is composed of CUBE's in-house producers. Well, they used to be but have formed an independent group and continues to work with CUBE after that. Now this video has been circulating which sounds a lot like its by CLC. Remember back in June they started teasing with roses and all? It sounds good, tbh. I wish I could hear the full version.

I mean this does happen... just recently someone finally leaked the SNSD demo of Hot Summer/Take Over (which Sunny confirmed years ago), and one of Got7’s songs (pre hard carry era) was supposed to be for 15&’s Jimin.
The worst part is the evidence that someone provided: CLC members were all holding roses and posting in French (I saw the rose pictures, can’t confirm the other one). So this wasn’t just some random song in contention, it was likely supposed to be a lead single, and SOMEBODY screwed the pooch. Either Cube dropped it (which is what a lot of people are guessing and probably the most accurate) or Mono-whatever took his song elsewhere and MNET/OTR picked it up.
This isn’t exactly new new things it’s just really unfortunate because they sound good on the track and I want to hear the whole thing and see if they had done a dance practice for it. =(
That being said...this would have been a great song for CLC. Suenghee was singing with her grown woman voice.

they gave the choreo to IZ*ONE as well so CUBE probably handed it over knowing it would make them more money than having CLC use it as a comeback. Would this have been the breakthrough song for CLC? idk I don't think the song is all that great on its own but maybe vocally CLC would have done a better job and made it better. it benefits from being given to a group that already have a guaranteed success bigger than CLC historically has acheived.

the choreo does work better for a 7 member group sucks for CLC members tho to watch another group do your entire comeback that you already learned.

interesting theory that it made cube more money handing it over, i hadn't even thought about it like that but now you mention it, yeah it's probably right
promoting a group that isn't selling will only cost them money
praying CLC will make a comeback soon though

agreed! the video above already had quite a lot of views, well the more the merrier
CLC has been working hard, but idk for some reason they just can not get the public to like them much and i seriously have no idea why, though black dress worked out pretty well i guess
i hope cube will start promoting them soon again now they are getting a little attention from this song/demo

I do hope they’ll push someone from CLC, because it doesn’t seem like anyone is being framed for more activities. I thought Eunbin or Yeeun would be the one pushed, but it seems there’s also Elkie and Sorn getting stuff, which kinda makes it as though they’re just throwing anyone out to see if they get something

Yea mnet probably offered them more $$ to buy the track and choreo than they would have made. After energetic they probably go to cube often to see what they’re working on.

oh energetic came from cube? who produced it? one from btob/pentagon or one of their in-house producers? interesting, i didn't know

ppl are saying that CLC wouldn't have made it big with this song and i have to agree, the style suits them very much, but i think it's too soft to make a big bang for them, maybe too safe? a bit like cosmic girl's save me, it's a good song but personally i thought starship was playing it too safe and could've pushed for more

yea I don't think it would have had a big impact, especially coming out at the end of the summer/fall with all these other hyped up comebacks coming out.

I think this case with CLC is what happened with Pentagon and energetic. That song is absolutely fantastic but Wanna One releasing it instead meant it boosted HUI's profile as a songwriter and they made more money off their cut of royalties from that than if Pentagon had released it themselves. It could have been a huge hit for PTG but it's not a guarantee like W1.

Songs often go from one group to another (we had many SM leaks to prove that lol), so I'm not surprised. Cube always looks like they need the cash lol so I guess selling this to IZ*ONE looked more lucrative than the rumored summer comeback for CLC
But while I understand, I would feel bitter that a song recorded and with a choreo ready would go to another group (and become really successful) if I were CLC, especially since they haven't been active since Black Dress.
I think La vie en rose would have been a good direction for them, with some edgier parts (btw Seunghee sounds super good on the pre chorus!!!) but elegant/feminine at the same time (like Distance was). I hope they have a new bop ready for an early 2019 comeback (I don't think a 2018 comeback is still possible with all those groups lined up) because I'm rooting for them. I don't think they can have a real breakthrough by now but at least go to a more comfortable position :(

This actually seems on point with what they’ve released so far, with Distance and Where are You.

I loved Seunghee’s voice here too! And everyone’s voice sounds distinct, pity we didn’t get a rap though. Also, imagine Seungyeon going hard on the pre chorus and chorus!

Songs are not just given from one group to another, but also a little twisted to fit their styles, and I can easily imagine La vie en rose with a harder instrumental drop and rap verse, even maybe a dance break? which would have put it nicely between Black Dress/Hobgoblin and Distance/Where are you. The pre-chorus goes hard after all
Omg yes I'm sure Seungyeon would have got the second pre-chorus and I really need the full demo to leak :'(

Cube are good at either putting distinct voices together in a group (I really like Seungyeon and Seunghee's tones, and Sorn maybe isn't as memorable but her having a higher vocal range completes the vocal line well), or giving specific lines to members so they can stand out (like Elkie who gets lines that screams Elkie - despite being added later to the group).
Also having seven members help ; they can distribute longer lines to each other and really shine when IZ*ONE have to switch more often between voices

hm I like the song but I only checked it out because I was curious about IZ*ONE's debut, and I listened a couple of times to get a feel for the group. It's good but not like an instant smash hit or anything. Doesn't really have a catchy hook. If it had been CLC's song it probably would have gone nowhere, sadly. They need a standout single at this point.

I don't particularly love the song but I really really really want CLC to succeed so this makes me a little sad. Someone give these girls a hit song, please.

This is not suprising and I don't think there's anything to it, it happens quite a lot tbh
It would have worked for CLC, but I think it worked better with IZ*one dynamic and number.

I'm still waiting for my CLC girls to comeback though

I listened to it and it’s still meh, so even though I prefer CLC if that was released I’d prob skip their comeback

And I’m prob just cynical but even if CLC got it, I don’t think it would help them that much. Korea just isn’t into them. IZ ONE was prob going to popular regardless (as long as they didn’t release anything like Dream Girls lol)

i actually prefer this version, CLC sound more mature than iz*one. i hope someone leaks the full version.

ngl i prefer eunbi's voice to seunghee's in that part
the song in general is just meh mostly due to the underwhelming chorus anyways so it probably wouldn't have benefited clc that much anyways

this could have been clc's breakthrough song

damn, SO many different thoughts about this. i don't begrudge izone for getting the song, it's not their fault and it's a great song... but it would have suited clc SO well.
ioi had to start off with a dud of a song and they still got super popular, i'm sure izone would have done great no matter what song they got (i actually think o' my is my fav song from their album?)
clc have the vocal, dance and rap skills to pull it off, it fits their image... izone, bless their hearts, they're a group of kids playing dress-up and the appeal of the individual members is their selling point. i'm not sure what their management was going for by buying this particular song. it's not exactly the best pick for a group of teens with a 14-year-old at its center.
