I feel like Gugudan/Weki Meki/Pristin are all putting out similar concepts and it's not getting much notice but they all keep trying the same thing again.

I feel like (G)I-DLE are the only rookie(ish) GG that are finding the right balance, but then I also think they have a more cohesive line up.

Yeah I totally agree with that. And in the case of gugudan, I think they've really not emphasized enough in their releases just how incredible they are as a vocal group. That a capella A Girl Like Me video was super popular for a reason - but the label never followed that up at all.

Yea I was super impressed by their vocalist line with that video, they’re a talented group. But even i forget they exist because they’re missing that it factor and the songs they released are - while I enjoy them - not that noteworthy. Sometimes I think well kpop fans aren’t looking for strong vocalists when it comes to kpop, but then I’m like welllll actually having great vocalists is what helped Mamamoo rise in popularity. But it could be because vocalists aren’t prioritized right now as much so they stood out, or they’re successful with the help of variety (? - I don’t follow them like that, are they?) I just went in circles but overall I wonder if they focused on vocals more would that help them more or going down this route.

I agree with you about gugu/pristin/weki in particular this year seeing Pristin V then Weki and now Gugu have super similar visuals and styling...they could all swap members and idt anyone would blink an eye.

Pristin V had the best song so far but the three of the groups putting out something too similar looks wise isn't going to help distinguish them from each other.

I agree that g idle has the right balance. Also maybe because the girls have or portray the right attitudes for their concept so they pull it off well, while other groups delivering this concept it just feels pretty empty to me. I want variety in kpop, so seeing you either get cute, sexy, or gc - it gets a lil frustrating how it feels limited

I agree that the visuals seen to be moving closer to each other. I would really love to see sales comparisons between these post ioi groups to get a sense of how well they are doing

Also sounds completely new for them, but I think they can pull it off. They have a really good vocal line and I hope this will show it a little more than The Boots (better line distribution too please!)
It's a little bittersweet to see post-IOI groups go for similar aesthetics. At least Gugudan/WM are releasing stuff and their sales aren't too bad

this is hella indicative of korean fashion trends and their approach to style in general but damn, it's impossible to visually distinguish groups bc of this.
