the starting is awesome, like everyone said, and kinda reminds me of Married to the Music! I like the song too, even if it is slower than what I would expect.

I completely agree with you. I know youth is valued in every entertainment industry but it is way more emphasized in kpop and it sucks. It’s a big reason why I know we promote that groups like RV and Twice rest but that’s probably exactly why they don’t, they’re at their peak and their popularity is short lived
I feel like... kpop will never really be able to mature because of the way it tosses out artists like Rain and Boa, huge, talented stars, but they got a bit older and kpop is all about the fresh and new.
i think about this a lot when it comes to my queens Uhm Jung Hwa and Lee Jung Hyun. You can't even get new kpop fans to check our their later releases! Meanwhile over in J-pop, I never had much problem getting people to check out Showa legends if I thought they would jive.
For sure I mean they had their fair share of scandals (most conveniently came out in the past 2 years) but I'm sure they would still bring money to their agency
Then again most JE bg have long run (tokio is still around, Arashi is gonna be that group people still talk about in a few decades)

But it is an interesting comparison. Youth is desired the world over, and women are still "over the hill" at 25 in J-pop, but lifelong stans are a lot more prevalent. Then again, J-pop is older and more established than modern K-pop so it may not yet be a fair comparison. But I feel like K-pop idols are utterly disposable. Even legends like BoA and Uhm Jung Hwa struggle to keep their fans' attentions (if they keep fans at all) meanwhile Seiko Matsuda is out there having a tour every year and making everyone nostalgic for the 80s. And she had a ton of scandals in the 90s. Even Ayu, who is more contemporary in fame, is still selling tickets to her constant tours while the public and media tear her apart.

The male voice going 'woman' is placed oddly to me, it pauses the song quite awkwardly - and ugh these looks she's done a zillion times before but it's okay because its BoA lmao

Also a lil offtopic and kind of old (like 4 years old) but her Japan promos remain my favourite, especially the one she did for Shout It Out. Korea could never.
i am all for BoA but this was clearly HEAVILY inspired borderline too much by Beyonce's formation/lemonade like you can't even hide it at some points.....
