a cross comparison I thought was interesting was that Got7 sold more than all YG boygroup combined, even though iKON had the bigger song this year.

BoA's numbers are shockingly lower than I expected for two releases already this year but Oh! GG doing so well with just a digital and khino single is great.

Looks like Stray Kidz will be taking the rookie male awards. Didn't realize their numbers were so high.

SM's pie (and YG's too i guess) look the healthiest, as in they have a variety of artists that sell equally well. with JYPE and CUBE it's twice and btob that keep the company running, which can backfire real quick if something bad (scandal, or in btob's case military) happens.

got7 and 2pm have good touring power though - particularly in japan if i remember correctly. obviously a hit to twice would be bad for jype (since their touring power is no joke as well), but its not like got7 and junho wouldn't be able to keep the company on it's feet for at least a while.

cube tho... pentagon is doing decently in japan but i don't think they come close to btob, and they wouldn't be able to bring in tour money from other places overseas not like cube would let them.

Nope his first solo release for 2018 comes out next month in Japan. He did a couple one off special songs for a variety show earlier this summer.

The Cube chart shows that It’s not really worth continuing CLC, even though I like their past songs. I wanted to see Cube have two girl groups they supported and they can take their turns promoting, but it may not be realistic.

I winced when I saw that. I feel like they really kinda hit their image stride with Black Dress but... yeah. If we do get CBs, they will probably be budget af so they can save it for g-idle. Can't say I blame them, but Black Dress turned me into a stan. But then you have the fact that g-idle is girl crush / cool girl and... ugh. What would be the point? I'm afraid they'll either drop CLC entirely or make them go cutesy again and I don't know which is worse, lol.

they're selling even more than BP who's considered top tier gg (almost 4x more)

TVXQ still has that big chunk in the SM pie. Korea's probably forgotten about them (save for when they go on variety and music shows probably) but the Japanese public remains supportive. I still hold on to my theory that if given the chance, Japan would adopt TVXQ in a heartbeat lol. I see NCT is giving them quite a lot, no wonder they're doing comebacks and debuts left and right. Kind of shocked RV's piece wasn't that big tho given the amount of activities they've done this past year.

Twice and BTOB really are the company bread winners, but I'm concerned how this will pan out for Cube considering the boys are enlisting soon. Got7 has more sales than Winner and iKON combined.

Looking at the numbers for Stray Kids and (G)-IDLE, I have a feeling who are taking the Rookie awards this year (although I am basing it on the pies so I could still be wrong). Who are these two groups up against for the rookie awards?

Also lmao idk why I'm having such a good time laughing but iKON, BP, and Winner have large chunks off of the YG pie but YG still refuses to give them shit for proper comebacks. YG remains behind in strategising I guess.

Japan LOVES tvxq if the current tour is anything to go by (i’m going in december!!) so honestly they’re set. no longer at the forefront of the industry but they’re settled, and don’t have to worry about their livelihood anymore. only thing that would bring them back to the limelight i think would be a reunion with all 5 - THAT would be shocking

idk about boy groups, but the girl group that’s gonna be up against idle is definitely LOONA. the female rookie award is def gonna be between them

Oh!GG is doing so amazingly well for just ONE single barely even promoted, I wonder how much they would have sold with a proper physical album and not just a Kihno. Hopefully that will motivated SM to give them something bigger to do in 2019.
