Not exactly. There are many misconceptions about Hyuna's departure from Wonder Girls. Due to her chronic gastroenteritis, her parents decided that she should leave the group. She went back to being a trainee, but when Hong Seungsung left JYPE and became Cube’s CEO in 2008, he convinced Hyuna to leave JYPE.

Who knows? If she would've stayed at JYPE, she might've rejoined the Wonder Girls like Sunmi or become a miss A member.

That only makes me think that since Hyuna was a valuable trainee, Cube offered a deal of her joining another group in which she would gain more attention with a promise to promote as a solo singer. Thing that the WG members were only able to do yeaaaarrrrssss later and that Suzy only did after leaving Miss A for good (when the group was pretty much dead). Maybe that was also why Somi left, her father must have wanted her to go solo from the start and not waste her potential at a group.

B2ST is a bit different since Junhyung had a hand in producing a lot of their stuff but yeah, they do still perform some of their old stuff but there's restrictions on it for commercial purposes. Hyuna did have a lot more creative input in her later albums but the majority of her title tracks (especially her most popular songs like Bubble Pop) don't have her credited

I get that she ~went against the company~ but honestly the "it's not because of dating" argument doesn't make sense to me? I mean if you allow your artists to date BUT ~it should be kept secret or on the down low~ then what's the point? Whether the couple want to go public or keep it private should be 100% on them and not on "consulting the company first" bs. If you only want them to keep it private, may as well just ban them from dating (which is yikes but w/e).

Same with the "Pentagon is a rookie boy group (so they shouldn't date or if they do, they should keep it private)" argument. If there's anyone destroying their career it's Cube and the fans themselves? Like if you really don't care they are dating why are you leaving when your faves actually date? What's the difference whether they decide to go public or not? YOU care that your faves are taken. (This is mainly directed at kfans and some ifans who are supporting this idea)

And Cube should have just played it cool like "oh, yeah, in fact they ARE dating actually, sry for the confusion lol oop" and Hyuna would have never gotten kicked out or hurt by the contract termination news without notifying her first. It's all very confusing to me and I have so many conflicting thoughts tbh like on one hand I'm like YAS QUEEN but on the other hand I'm sad that some other kids had to be collateral damage because of their dating revelation? but at the same time iirc 2 other members(?) of that group were dating too so I guess the dating part wasn't the issue like you said people tend to argue.

so in saying that, if the issue was her going against the company...I mean Junhyung's relationship with Hara went public when he was under Cube, and Cube said themselves there's no dating ban so I don't really get the whole ~going against the company~ angle. I guess because she contacted journalists behind their backs after they denied the rumours, but like you said if they had just been like "oh yeah sorry we didn't know, guess they're dating" it probably wouldn't have gotten the negative backlash it got.

it just feels like a huge PR disaster to me that was all managed super poorly and so a bunch of people are now suffering because of it. /end rant (I just have so many feelings lmao)

Tbh the collateral damage should never happen in the first place because 1) if the fans really "don't care" they are dating then there really shouldn't be any damage at all and 2) the public literally don't care about idols dating so it would never affect them/casual listeners at all? AND 3) if Cube really have no problem with their artists dating then they should have actually acted like it's REALLY no problem at all. (Which I'm guessing Cube thought they shouldn't have gone public because it involved Edawn aka rookie boygroup oppa!!!!1) Instead they went into panic mode which eventually led to kicking Hyuna out and probably putting Edawn on ~hiatus~ until his contract expires?

On the other dating members, I'm guessing they were just okay on whatever Cube said on behalf of them regardless of the fact that they actually already broke up or not, which Hyudawn clearly disagreed thus decided to be honest and reveal their r/s. So it makes sense to me that the other members were rather untouched by Cube but Hyudawn got "punished."

Tl;dr my points are
- I get that Hyuna got kicked because of ~going against the company~ which STILL rooted in the dating issue
- The other dating members are safe because they agreed on w/e Cube was saying on behalf of them unlike Hyudawn
- Fans claiming they don't care if their faves dating/this is not about dating is utter crap
- Cube indeed doesn't care about dating except for ~rookie boy group members~ which means THEY STILL CARE
- Which all of this means it's STILL about dating
- This doesn't affect the public at all so if Cube and fans weren't shitting themselves over such a non-issue there should have been no damage at all

if cube really doesn't care about the dating there shouldn't have been an issue in the first place, but if they care about their rookies dating then put a dating ban on them for the first few years of their promos? (which I'm not for at all, but since Cube seems to have such an issue with it then why isn't this a thing lmao)

I feel like there are so many unknown variables as well. like did Cube tell Hyuna specifically to not reveal it to the public and she went and did it anyway? or did she just tell her truth that happened to be different from what they said? if that's the case isn't she technically not breaking any rules still since dating is supposedly allowed in the company..? lmao it's all so strange and makes no sense.
