I'm five years old so"Firm stick investments" made me snort laughing.

BigHit has relatively low operating costs right now since they only have BTS whereas YG has investments in a lot of other sectors so it's not really that big of a deal. I do believe that YG will eventually lose their market hold if they don't get it together management wise. They've had their fair share of failed ventures too, like Mix9ine

it also can't help that they keep people in the basement so long too. How can you and your acts make money if they just are forced to do nothing for such long periods of time?

Exactly. They have so much earning potential with their artists but they for some reason prefer to squander it all. It's crazy how little music 2NE1 released despite being one of the biggest girl groups ever or BlackPink's constant shafting. AKMU literally self-produce and write their own stuff but even they got sporadic releases. Chanhyuk left so many songs for Suhyun to do as a soloist while he's in the military but so far nothing.

SM ain't shit but one thing I'll give them credit for s they give their artists consistent comebacks and know how to outsource for producers and lyricists so you don't have one guy doing 90% of the songs like YG with Teddy

I think YGE handles more of their production in-house than any other agency though even more than Big Hit.

The only other agency that has an in-house production roster almost as deep would be JYPE.

Lol. I totally get what you were trying to say, but I also think that comparison would work better if you were comparing Big Hit to like SME maybe.

if you look at the song credits most of bts songs have several outside composer and producers

I mean, who's surprised? He hasn't been doing much with any of his artists, and the upkeep cost of their day-to-day, without a lot of continual comebacks to make profit, probably doesn't excite stockholders like Bangtan never taking a break, would.

This is possible since technically, its only BTS that they invest on and the returns is million-folds. So yeah. Not surprising to happen.

I mean, there was that one pie chart of YGE's money-makers and it was like 50% Big Bang and another 24% of just GD or something. His big money-makers are gone and BTS is having a hell of a year, so I'm not surprised.

I agree with what pretty much everyone else here is saying. It's easier for them to invest in one successful act than to spread themselves thin with acts they don't even promote as much. Thus, not reaching the earning potential they could.

Yang Hyun Suk is the biggest shareholder at 17.3%. I'm not sure of how these things work - can they oust him?

I'm loving this, simply bc it's YG's fault. He just has to promote his artist more and not keep them in the basement. Blackpink are considered one of the top 3 girlgroups with Twice and Red Velvet yet have the least songs in their discography. They have so many fans and their last comeback did really well, imagine how much money they could earn if YG would give them regular comebacks. Instead he locks them away in the basement

YHS seems to love spending time finding new gems to keep in his basement rather than cultivating the talent he already has... going on shows like kpop star, creating survival shows, creating that X Academy which sounds like another attempt to siphon in talent he'll let rot.

I mean that’s in potential value and not actual assets. It’s all futures too. And Big Hit is more volatile if their main cash cow is faced with some unforeseen circumstances while YGE is more spread out.

However YGE is severely mismanaged and this isn’t just a public perspective but also an industry outlook, so obviously it spells trouble for a publicly traded company.

they're crazily overvalued given that their agency depends on one artist. I know they're considering IPO but I'd be skeptical if I was a future investor. idol groups have a shelf life and bts has enlistments coming up.
