On October 2, YG Entertainment announced through an official statement, “YG Entertainment’s exclusive contract with Epik High has ended. After long discussion, YG and Epik High came to an agreement to not renew.”

YG Entertainment continues, “YG expresses gratitude to Tablo and Epik High, who have done great music together with us for seven years. We are also cheering on their new start and activities. We hope they will always be in good health and happiness, and we ask for many people to send blessings for Epik High’s future. We express our deep gratitude to the fans who have loved Epik High as an artist of YG."

Epik High has been with YG Entertainment since 2011.

This has been a long time coming imo, especially when Tablo stepped down as HIGHGRND's head. I mean idk Epik High have always been managing themselves anyway? Or at least that's how I saw it. There's the security of being under an agency ofc but I've always thought of Epik High managing fine on their own.

Glad they're out of YG, hopefully they can form their own label now after their experience with Highgrnd and thrive! Their situation is a lot better now than when they signed with YG (coming back after Tajinyo). I wish the best for them

From what it sounded like, YG pretty much let EH do whatever they wanted for the most part so I don't see this being that huge of a change as far as their music/output. It'll be a little bittersweet for them to not be a part of YG family anymore since they're close with pretty much everybody on the label but of course I'll support them wherever they go.

Not surprising since their reputation is a lot better now, and they probably want more freedom in when and what they release.

I know Tablo worked with Sechskies on some of their music, so I'm guessing he won't be working with them anymore? Shame cause I liked his production, but I also hope this means we'll get more cheery, pump it up type dance songs. Cause his production is kinda a downer.
