mnet finally implemented long contracts. not sure if being locked in for 2 years will be good but hopefully the girls are successful.

My friend who's an AKB48 fan was pissed when she found out lmao like she said yay for their health but she would've wanted them to at least have a few singles with AKB48 now that Miyu graduated lol (I'm a perfume and e-girls fan myself so I'm not too invested but I do feel for my friend about this lmao)

Thanks OP. I hope anybody who got upset because IOI only got <1 year finally realize that misogyny is not always the reason.

They definitely wanted to avoid Rocket Girls mess with this, but 2.5 years? I was expecting 1.5 and the remaining year for subunits...

2.5 years is a long time, i guess they hope that the girls will be as successful as IOI and wanna one, but looking back at their votes during the final and how netizens reacted to the whole season, i'm not too sure. i bet that if SK and japan end up in political dispute in these 2.5 years it will affect the band.

I thought this information about a 2.5 exclusive contract was already a known fact? maybe I'm mixing this with rocket girls, idk. not surprised that they won't be able to promote with their original groups if the korean trainees can't do stuff with their original companies.

A lot of 48g fans thought they'd be able to do both, at least the single releases and such. They're not happy.

They're also largely creepy men so they can seethe.

maybe their fans didn't follow p101 series or thought that it would be different because they're already debuted artists, but I would honestly be surprised if they were allowed to promote in both groups considering how they changed contracts for W1 after IOI.

If you take knetz rage and reverse it you’ll have Stage48 lol

It was definitely out there since the beginning. I think the news of them being 100% exclusive the new part.

I read your comment below and I think I also imagined that it wouldn't be the whole 2,5 years exclusively like you said. but I never thought the Japanese trainees would be able to still promote with their original groups during the whole thing. maybe their fans didn't follow p101 series and are now surprised but considering how IOI and W1 worked...

I’m almost certain the original contract (that I heard about) was 2.5 but 1.5 would be spent exclusively with IZONE. Or maybe that is for the Korean trainees. Eh well. I’ve been reading the comments on other places and like I didn’t know the eternal politics of the AKB system so I just thought this would be meh for them (not great but not the worst thing), but like this could potentially be a big deal for their already established careers.

Yeah it'll be a mess on the AKB side, but the whole franchise has been in a decline and needs to really stabilize anyway.

Will Haruppi come back from her hiatus now that HKT has no center?

This is only good for Hitomi because Team 8 isn't exactly established yet. Nako and Sakura are pretty big in HKT48 tho (or I'm guessing since they're all over the MVs). I don't know how uncle fans are going to take it lol

Also, I'm wondering if Nako's journey would've been the same if the other girl (Miku?) she auditionned with (never shown on tv because lol banana) had stayed. I think her dropping out made Nako stand out even more.

I wonder if she regrets it.
