Goo Hara apologizes, says she wants to stop fighting with her ex regarding assault case

On September 19, Goo Hara spoke to Korean media outlet EDaily and said she wants to stop the battle with her boyfriend.

She began, “I want to sincerely apologize to the fans and the public for causing a disturbance during the last couple days. I want to put an end to this disturbance that has gotten out of hand.”

About her boyfriend “A,” Goo Hara explained, “We were maintaining a healthy, beautiful relationship. We sometimes had arguments or conflicts, but it was no different than any other couple. Then one day, we were unable to resolve a small misunderstanding and our fight became bigger.”

She continued, “Now that it’s become a situation where the public and media are watching, the two of us are engaging in a childlike ugly war of attrition and a messy fight. The thing about an argument is we are both at fault. It can’t be just one side’s fault.”

She added, “I want to forgive someone that I once loved and I also want to be forgiven. I hope that this skillful, respectable person will overcome this incident and find a bright future.”

She concluded, “Instead of continuing this fight through things like interviews and disappointing fans, I will wait for the results of the police investigation. I’m sincerely sorry. I once again bow my head and apologize to the fans and the public.”

I hate that it feels like she has given up, but Im not surprised, given that so many idiots support her ex and that she lives in a country that doesn't give a shit about women.

I usually know for sure who is the victim in these kind of scandals but for once I have no idea. I honestly doubt both sides, I think they are not telling the entire truth on their behaviors before and during the fight.
What can be sure is that it was a very abusive relationship and I am glad it has ended for the both of them.
Hopefully they will be surrounded by a support system and will get into therapy.

I wonder if her media statements can be used as evidence by the police that she's admitting to fault. It's just weird to me how she keeps making such detailed statements to the public instead of vague statements that a lawyer would sign off on.

Anyway, he kicked her awake, I don't think she's at all at fault for scratching him. I hope she has the support she needs. i think it's messed up that she thinks she has to apologize to the public when she's the victim in this situation.

Her statement is probably somehow part of the deal to settle outside of the court, and she admitted earlier that she scratched him, so it nothing new from her side.

I feel like this is a situation were they both were toxic in the relationship however we can't take away the fact that there was a clear power imbalance in the situation. He never should've put his hands on her and judging by the pictures it wasn't just self-defense against her attacking him.

I really hope this marks the end of their relationship because who knows what could happen next.

I keep making the mistake of reading knetz comments and the mental gymnastics they're doing to convince themselves that Hara is the one lying here just... angers me so much. Based on all the evidence and accounts we've gotten so far I just can't understand how anyone can side with this guy rn. He showed up with an iv drip because he has superficial scratches on his face, didn't want the police to interview him but immediately ran to the press but because she has bruises "on weird places" (whatever that means) she obviously has to be lying and probably inflicted them on herself...

Considering her state and his physicially, they were certainly not both wrong. I still don't get why she is apologizing when she clearly is the victim here. Typical toxic relationship where the girl apologizes and takes part of the blame.

I just hope she finds solace and she quits him for good. That's the best we can wish on her right now. He needs to stay away. Possibly in the middle of a supermassive black hole.

People who take it as her admission of guilt should read about Choi Jinsil case.
She wants to settle and end it as fast as possible because whatever outcome of official investigation would be she will be on losing side anyway by her private matters exposed. And Hara never change her statement, she admitted from the start to partaking in this altercation, her ex was the one who constantly keep changing his story so I don't know why people are now "confused".

I get that she just wants this all to go away at this point but she sounds like a typical abuse victim that has been emotionally manipulated: total stockholm syndrome, blaming herself, trying to justify his actions. This guy has shown how sketchy he is already and she's still willing to let him off easily because everyone has made it so difficult for her. It's really sad.

From a moral viewpoint the police should be obligated to continue because it's not even about just Goo Hara anymore - this guy is going to hurt other women as well. This is not a one time mistake someone makes and he needs to be punished or he will have no reason to not try and control his next girlfriend the exact same way. It's so stressful that it's always on the victim to keep having to expose themselves and relive their trauma in these cases because making sure these men face consequences is something that isn't done just for the victim but for all of society since he might not even be violent to just women (though if I'm perfectly honest I am getting less and less sympathetic to men getting the shit kicked out of them every day with cases like this and the horrible comments that go with them continuously popping up)
