Eh idk if that really counts considering her dad isn’t first gen Dutch. It’s a thing white North Americans claiming whatever euro ancestry they have to sound more interesting.

Like she has Dutch ancestry but I wouldn’t consider her a European idol. But that’s prob me being cynical lol

lol it's definitely a conscious double standard I have but imo if you're ancestors were part of the group that wanted north america so bad they came and stole it you don't get to just consider yourself European again for the sake of feeling more fancy (or trying to absolve yourself of colonial guilt you might have) 3 generations later. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

She’d have one if she was born there or if her direct parents have Dutch citizenship. The eu doesn’t do ancestral dual citizenship with generations further back than parents anymore. She’d definitely be able to get dual Korean citizenship tho along with her Canadian one.

I’m v bitter about that fact because that was how I was going to study and work in England because my grandfather and great grandparents are from the uk. But alas I’m just a plain old Canadian.

I think it’s because not a lot of agencies do castings in Europe. Not sure why they don’t target that area but it’s usually never included in their international search announcements.

There’s been an influx of Australian and kiwi idols lately and I think we’ll see more idols with South American roots too like Samuel and BM from Kard agencies seem pretty keen to see what talent is there rn

When the profiles came out someone who went to the same international school that him said he speaks eng, ger, kor and chi fluently. My guess is we gonna hear him speak german as much as the others non korean members, which is very little. Tbh feels like SM is in no hurry to put them to speak anything other than chinese at first
