T-ara’s Hyomin Talks About Meaning Behind Comeback Track “Mango” And Her Image

Hyomin recently talked about how she prepared for her upcoming digital single and the image she wanted to portray.

On September 12, Hyomin held a showcase at the Ilchi Art Hall for the release of her comeback solo track “Mango.”

During the showcase, Hyomin stated, “After 2014 and 2016, I’ve released my third solo album today. It’s been 2 years and 6 months. I had overseas activities, and I rested as well. While resting, I had a lot of free time, and recently, I prepared thoroughly for the album.”

Later, Hyomin talked about her music and revealed, “The new track’s title has the ambiguous meanings of a mango fruit and the phrase ‘Man, Go!'” She continued, “Please look forward to the phrases I used to compare myself to a mango, and the ways I tried to untangle the uncertain relationship between a man and woman in the chorus.”

Hyomin also shared her thoughts on the concept for her latest album, saying, “Rather than a choreography that highlights an overly feminine quality or sexiness on stage, I tried hard to put emphasis on a different image. I think there’s still a lot of that sexy image, though.”

She continued, “To be honest, ‘Mango’ is just a precursor to my next album that will be released in the future. I currently prepared around 5 to 6 songs.”

With this album, Hyomin plans to display her unique concept through “colors.” Her track “Mango” uses the color yellow as its theme.

Hyomin’s new digital single is set to be released on September 12 at 6 p.m. KST.


T-ara’s Hyomin Picks Chungha And (G)I-DLE As Juniors Who Have Caught Her Eye

T-ara’s Hyomin held a press conference to celebrate the release of her solo digital single “Mango” and she had nothing but great things to say about Chungha and (G)I-DLE!

While talking about her return as a solo singer, Hyomin was asked whether there are any juniors who have caught her eye. She responded by picking Chungha and explained, “She [Chungha] has been active as a female solo artist these days, and I think she’s really great on stage and she has such great energy.”

She also chose (G)I-DLE and stated, “I’ve watched (G)I-DLE’s performances on stage and I think they’re refreshing and cool. I’ve enjoyed watching them.”

I love the song and the cheesy MV (and I do love that it’s all female, goes well with the song), and why she chose mango to be the symbol/song title is really interesting to me after reading the lyrics

Also wanted to add I liked that she mentioned in a interview that T-ara members are super supportive and she sounded positive/hopeful about a future for T-ara. I really hope so!!!

Youtube is always my go to first :) though since it was so fast, hopefully it’s still pretty accurate. Overall I like how she implies that men want you a certain way (likening it to preferring the mango to being ripe, a woman being soft and feminine) and ‘poking’ to find the right one, and if you don’t love her/her mango (lol) for what it is, you can go :) I love it haha

There’s a quirkiness to the song (both melody and lyrics) and especially the video which low key reminds me of something sunmi would release.
