Sechs Kies' fans accuse Kang Sung-hoon of dating fan club president

The members of Kang Sung-hoon’s fan club, Hoony World, has recently brought up the clues for the artist’s girlfriend. According to the fans’ accusation, the artist is dating the president of his fan club.

Rumors say that the alleged girlfriend has been spotted with Kang Sung-hoon several times for his family events like weddings. In addition, fans point out that the company name for the fan club, which is “Forever 2228,” is the combination of the star’s birthday and the fan club president’s birthday.

Furthermore, fans claim that he was spotted with the alleged girlfriend in a hotel room. While on Instagram Live, according to the claim, the artist accidentally revered his camera, which caught the woman for a brief moment.

The dating rumor put the artist in hotter water as the fan club has been causing controversies for its poor management.

Kang Sung-hoon recently wrote to the fan club, “About the recent girlfriend rumor, I will say rumor is a rumor. I don’t think I need to explain further. It isn’t worth mentioning and I want you all to stop reading too much into it.”

Meanwhile, Kang Sung-hoon’s agency YG Entertainment has not released an official statement about the rumor.

Right? It's weird how so many people don't see the several levels of yikes involved when idols choose to date super devoted fans like this when they have so many other options. Fan club PRESIDENT is on a whole new level.

like others have said, the power dynamic is skewed to fuck, and it's narcissistic at best....but from the idol side, why would you want to date someone who by all means and purposes...is probably the definition of obsessed with you?

Yeah, something similar happened with that! It was to a lesser extent since there's no record of them dating, but from what I remember it was one of those photo fansites named Jinnabit or something. I think she was the only Sulli fansite out there because she would bully anyone else who would try to take photos of her, and Sulli made the mistake (I say mistake, but it was a shitty situation for her to be in as an idol and SM should have been the ones to step in) of being too personal and pandering to her too much. The fansite ended up turning on her anyway and trying to air a bunch of her dirty laundry when Sulli was no longer the perfect princess she had in mind.

that's the kind of thing that makes me feel that idols should keep their fans at a reasonable distance. getting too personal doesn't seem like it'd work out well for any party.

Agreed. This is a different case because it's a "veteran" idol and he's going to do what he wants anyway but it's strange to see how companies will micromanage every detail of their idols' lives but don't seem to be able to properly educate them on who they shouldn't get personally involved with. It might sound extreme but with the fake no-dating clause they have not dating fans really should be in their contract to deter them from it.

I agree with everything in this thread, but 1% of me feels like maybe I can understand it just from the perspective of being famous makes it hard to trust and find people to date. Why you would chose to trust a fansite owner is beyond me though. But I can see the industry making you feel like that idk.

And it’s not only the discrepancy in age that would skewer a power imbalance. For example, boss/ subordinates love affair is also skeevy to me 🤷🏻‍♀️

Power dynamics aren't strictly about age differences. It's also about differences in 'positions' in a job employment, familial, communal, and governmental sense that intertwines with age, sex, orientation, race/ethnicity, etc.

Dangggg. I'm a fan of Sechskies, so I knew there had been a lot of people upset about Hoony World's poor management. He does a lot of (paid) fan meetings through them, and recently was supposed to have a fan meeting in Taiwan, but it was canceled due to visa issues, with HW blaming the concert organizer (supposedly a friend of Hoony) and the concert organizer blaming HW. A lot of fan sites were shutting down, but this explains why people were so upset. I get why they're refuting the rumors, but I absolutely believe them. That's messy. Don't date your fans, especially not fan sites or fan admins. I'm assuming she was a fan site before they got together.

Here's a thread explaining the mess with Hoonyworld. Lots of worries about embezzlement. Hoon's gone to jail before for fraud, and while he was released early, I think because they decided he was victim of loan sharks and that he had tried to pay back the money, at best, this proves that he's not good at business and should go through his agency. At worst, he or someone in HW are trying to fix things to take money from fans.

Re his gf, the thread says she was formerly a cordi for J-WALK (a Sechskies sub-unit consisting of Jaeduck and Suwon). So I wonder if she's a Sechskies fan who became a cordi for J-WALK and then decided to become a fansite for Hoony, or if she became a fansite after she started dating him. It's all very muddled.

TBH, imo it seems like it's an unhealthy relationship for both of them. The fan can be taken advantage of by the idol, and the idol can get screwed over by the fan if he decides to leave, or even in the relationship, the fan can use her status to mess with his relationship with his fans.

How old is that lady though? because this being an old group it's very possible that she's an OG fan and might be around the same age as him. Either way it sounds like they're just casually hooking up and not in a serious relationship.

And about the power imbalance, while it is true that any heterosexual relationship has an inherent power imbalance, I wouldn't say he holds any power as a celebrity over her right now. I'd say it's the opposite; fans who date idols gain a lot of dirt and potentially career damaging information considering idols aren't supposed to date, ever (this is why you never hear of female idols dating their male fans!)
