On his return to Korea after attending Tommy Hilfiger's show in Shanghai, Chanyeol was crowded by fans at Incheon airport. He had barely any space to walk and the fans damaged his shoe. In response, he posted a message on instagram asking his fans to be more careful in future.

"I hope that all the fans who come to greet me at the airport will please maintain order. The airport is a place that isn’t just used by us, it’s also used by others such as passengers, people who are waiting for their precious family members, and young children. A situation arose today in which someone’s toe could have been damaged if something went wrong, rather than my slipper. The people who were guarding me kept saying not to push, but order was not maintained at all. It’s a relief that no one was injured, but I’m writing this because I think that this cannot continue. I hope that you will take care in the future so that no one is hurt in public spaces like the airport. I’m grateful for your constant love, and I’ll become someone who can repay that love."

I can't imagine how frustrated and exhausted these airport incidents must make idols. Good on him for calling them out.

Amen. Not to mention um...ok so BTS and EXO especially have enough money to book private flights. Why are they flying in planes with general population? Like even though they are in first class...like??? Book the private jet. Take the private exits. Stop with these airport walks.

BTS lives in the most expensive condos in South Korea. They got that jet money.

But yeah at the very least these airport walks need to stop.

they could but then k-pop agencies couldn't monetize brand deals with clothing companies.

lots. top tier groups could sell out items for months. smaller groups can usually bump up sales and getting free clothing in exchange means agencies spend less on wardrobe for 6+ people/the members don't have to spend the small money they make on clothing.

as an aside one other reason they can't do private jets is because of how big their staff and luggage needs are. they all travel together but would be more than a private jet would accomodate (they also prob have deals with airlines too lbr).

Apparently private planes are easier to track and stalk than commercial flights.

You cant fly distances like from Sk to LA in a private Jet. Chanyeol could cause its a short distance. For big trips like BTS you must rent an airline type of plain, not a small jet. Chanyeol could tho, but SM is like tht. As far as I remember the Rolling Stones have that type of plain for when they went on world tour, now they rent it at 22k usd for an hour.

here i was thinking "oh no bc private jets are super bad for the environment" but yeah since when did kpop companies care abt the environment lol

also, though it’s probably not the company’s reason why they don’t use private jets, they’re way more dangerous than commercial flights.

there’s, statistically, more private planes errors/accidents than commercial ones.

a) as someone already said, the airports are kind of their runways - it's a chance for them to wear sponsored clothes and bags
b) they get photographed by fans and media, which is free promo for them
c) companies are too lazy to pay for extra security/request back entrances

i lost count how many times exo members have spoken up about this behaviour on social media, yet these "fans" still don't listen

imagine free enough to go to airports at whatever time of the day and do the 2 hour round trip that most airports are from cities just to see an idol. on top of all the waiting involved, let's get these sasaengs channelling that energy into curing disease or smth.

At the risk of sounding jaded, part of the kpop industry's biggest selling point is that idols "belong" to the fans (which is a crock of horseshit) and that companies only benefit from fans being able to see and touch (and attack?) their oppars to and from schedule. Remember the hoards of people swarming TVXQ back in the day? SM never cared, it's all about the publicity and fan money.

Idg why fans would want to do stuff like this anyways. It’s crowded and uncomfortable and you’re just inconveniencing the idols you claim to love so much.
