July 27, 2016 Taemin debuted as a soloist in the Japanese market with the Sayonara Hitori Mini album. He later released Sayonara Hitori in Korean after the popularity of his stage on Hit The Stage. A Year Later he released Flame Of Love from the

A year later on July 18th, the Flame Of Love mini album was released with Flame of Love as the title track.

It's interesting to see the difference in choreo styles between his japanese and korean releases. SM leans more pop for Korean releases but Universe and SM let him do lyrical choreo for Japan. Nice that he gets to play at both styles and does it so seamlessly.




Just before the release of Flame Of Love, Taemin held his first solo concert, "Taemin The 1st Stage Nippon Budokan," held in Japan to an audience of 28 000 people. The concert was performed on a 360 stage which provided a wonderful challenge to the crew and dancers.

Taemin's second full length album, MOVE, was released on October 16, 2017 with 3 versions of the music video for the title track.

The Repackage called Move-ing was released on December 10, 2017 with the title Day and Night, which Taemin helped write.

He closed out the year with a not-nearly-enough duet performance with Sunmi at MAMA 2017.

Just before MOVE debuted Taemin started his first Korean concert series and tour, which he took to a few countries including Japan. Off-Sick opened on August 26-27 in Seoul and the later dot con Off-sick <on track> (which was the version he toured with) was held October 14-15. It was rumoured he would be touring to more countries, including US and Canada and Europe, but due to Jonghyun's passing that plan is most likely on hold indeffinitely. It's possible he'll tour with his next concert should he want to.

My king of kpop! Following his solo debut was one of the things that turned me from a casual to full-on SHINee fan. Jjongs held on to the top spot all year even with a rain comeback. Taemin and Psy are the only solo males who could release an album this year and sell more and psy takes a long break between albums. I hope poet | artist takes all the awards!

I loved his performance for PYN.
And I am still obsessed with Move be it the song, choreo or just Taemin being hot in sleeveless turtleneck.

I used to really dislike Taemin when I was shawol, I just got a weird vibe from him but now I really admire him as an artist a lot. I think it has to do that he's more open now so we see more of him.
