So uh, that BTS x Nicki Minaj collab is fucking real. Disappointed to be honest. I’m just glad it won’t be in the album; if it were I wouldn’t purchase it. They and BigHit need to seriously consider moving away from the “social consciousness” branding at this point, because having this branding and working with Nicki Minaj is literally the most hypocritical thing possible.

Right now I'm waiting for my sheets to dry, so that I can make my bed and go to sleep. Sitting in front of my air purifier because this smoke is killing me. (I live in Seattle, and we're getting tons of smoke from the wildfires in Canada.) I don't get how Korea and other countries just deal with having seasonal bad air quality. And even worse, I can't believe people choose to wear cloth masks over filter masks in such air quality. It's crazy.

Sechskies' Eun Jiwon, Kim Jaeduck, and Jang Suwon are doing some explore LA/golfing show. It comes out in September. I don't care about golf, but I'm excited to see my faves do something that I know the fansubbers will sub. That's the. Ad thing about being in a small English speaking fandom. I love how tight knit out community is, but I hate how long it takes for information to get translated, and that some things never will get subbed. I wish I knew Korean or had money to pay someone to help.

On Monday I'm flying to Korea for four months and I'm really excited but also terrified. I was on a plane twice. And I'm going alone! D: I guess at 24 you're supposed to be more independent, but here I am.

I still haven't even begin packing, which, really, ridiculous. But I hate packing and I also feel like it's because if the stress that I keep putting it off uuuughghghg

At least my family is coming back from their holidays today so they'll take their dog back. I love him, he's cute and wonderful, but it's exhausting taking care of him alone when I still have so much to do for the trip.

whinging ahead:
- I’ve been (lazily) looking for a roommate and my selected person just backed out. Room is available on Sunday and I leave Monday for 2 weeks, so I guess I’m covering rent.
- Of course, now that I work for myself, covering rent is no longer super easy. Oh well.
- I’ve had a temp roommate for a couple weeks and that has been trying. I don’t know if I just don’t really like her (truth) or if I’m officially too much a curmudgeon. However, rent control in SF means moving is not really an option.
- I have a half marathon in three weeks and developed patella tendonitis, so I’m not supposed to be running. Except, life long runner and I have a race!
- So dosing the ibuprofen and my stomach has officially rebelled. Ouch. One body part or the other. (First world problem, because thankfully my health is generally a blessing, but this is a whining list!)


I want a new romcom; was House Keeper, or whatever, that just played any good? I do like a man who cleans, but I can’t face another Secretary Kim let down right now, even if it involves a hot (baseball loving) man who constantly takes his clothes off. Is anyone watching DO’s new one? Sageuk….

there are completely valid reasons to not like nicki as a musician or as a person bc of her decisions and i wish ppl would include those reasons when they talk abt this bts collab otherwise it just sounds like the vague dislike most kpop fans just happen to have whenever a black artist has any interaction w an idol. it's just curious the way we have to tip-toe around kpop opinions or we'll start a dumb comment fanwar but dislking black ppl always brings kpop fans together! half the time ppl want validation from us and the other half it's stay away black. ugh don't take this as a subtweet

bought a ticket to k-expo after crazy consideration. i'm living a yolo year in return for "i won't go to the chicago shinee fanmeet bc i already went to exo's show this year and i'll see shinee when they have a real concert" bc god damn. jonghyun, i miss and love you! maybe i'll stretch s/t to catch shinee at their dome tour? crossed fingers, it actually happens

so yeah those prices are outrageous and they even made up an "early bird" thing but where there's a limited ticket run of "cheaper" prices ($350 dropped to $280, for example) but since those early bird prices have been out (5 days?) my guess is they're still too fcking expensive lol. as usual, kpop ran western "conventions", totally know what they're doing

still, excited to see my astro boys! it's looking like ot6 is coming! it'll be nice to see eunwoo's slow maturity in person since stanning so far away, you only get to pick up on these things from a screen. i'll get to have that piece of "growing" w an idol that domestic fans get

trying to find 1-3 tickets for a phoenix show at fonda in LA on the 6th or 7th since those went on sale before i knew i was going to LA for bts...

I will say that BTS took a photo with alleged rapist Nick Carter and the Backstreet Boys after the accusations surfaced and was reported by rolling stone but no one brings that up and I saw lots of people wishing for a collab. I have issues with Charlie Puth because of Kesha despite his "apology" but fans still love him. Meanwhile, Wale was attacked by ARMY for "using" BTS, Cupcakke was bullied by ARMY for saying the same sexual shit they say. A lot of kpop fans are racist and it's half the reason why I don't engage anymore.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy K-expo. I wanted to go but I saw the prices and what they were offering and felt it was too expensive for me to go solo and not do much because of my irrational fear of public humiliation.

Happy Friday! Thanks for the warm reception of my debut post, I didn't think people would really be so into the topic! I've been AWOL since the bar so lemme update ya'll...

Found a clerk job at a tax firm while I wait on bar results. The work is boring as dirt but at least everyone there is super nice. Still having trouble adjusting to a normal life, it's hard to do anything recreational without extreme guilt that I should be working on something else (even though there is nothing else).

Been reading a lot since I now have that luxury. Read all three Crazy Rich Asians books in anticipation of the movie, both of which were stellar and I can't stop raving about either. Currently reading "The Vegetarian," been eyeing that once Omona discussed feminist literature craziness after Irene dared to read a book.

Still livid over this entire Pentagon ordeal. My friends at KCon LA were so pissed that E'Dawn couldn't participate since they weren't sure if they'd ever have the chance to see Pentagon outside of Korea anytime in the near future.

My feelings on BTS' new album are lukewarm. I liked most of the 'Tear' songs better than the new ones. I don't hate Nicki Minaj, I just don't think her voice matches well on "Idol," which is otherwise a decent track. Makes me wonder if BigHit is shifting their style to be more "global friendly music" or this is just a fluke.

Also get to go to a jimjilbang this weekend for some emotional and physical healing that I'm in desperate need of.

Congrats to the new job! Same here about not relaxing. I'm always trying to improve myself in different ways (learning French, hopefully Korean after and working out) and not doing any of those things makes me so uncomfortable. I feel like I should be drawing or writing instead of reading etc. and if I'm not I just feel uncomfortable.

Speaking of YA books and romcoms are there any good Lesbian ones? I mean happy, not based in some conservative town/family and where the girls know they're lesbians before they meet each other. I just to watch and read cute wlw stories.

I had a job interview yesterday and it was the first interview I excelled at. I felt confident and at ease. There were a few questions I could have answered better but overall I think I did a pretty awesome job. I have jury duty when training starts and since you can't miss a day I might not get the job, but at least I got the interview experience.

I miss Montreal already. I found a tiny shop just outside that had stuff imported from France and ah it was so good (I've been to France before). i changed my trip plans for december and now i'm going to do taiwan, korea and japan instead of southeast asia. i went to get my visa for thailand when i was in la for kcon and apparently the visa is only good for three months and will expire before i get there...so i'm just skipping southeast asia this time around lol. it's gonna be cold as fuck in japan and korea i'm not ready for it 😭 but i'm excited to go to both countries again and i'm going to spend more time in seoul and go to tokyo for the first time!!! and i'm super excited to go to taiwan for the first time. hopefully if any kpop events are happening in either of those countries while i'm there i'll be able to go.
