Lol this, it's really not that weird that people have feelings about idol dating lives when it's pushed as one of the most important parts of their product, so why not just admit you like them as an ideal boyfriend and it's part of the experience for you? It's not a weird phenomenon to have that ruined when you find out about their real relationships and not something to be ashamed of if it upsets you a little bit - until you start making up long lists like this to give some sort of deep explanation for your feeling betrayed for any other reason than having the illusion of availability ruined and bailing on an artist you claimed to support "unconditionally" as if they'll miss anything other than the coins you're dropping on them.

there's an overall big problem with people feeling they "own" celebrities and public figures in pretty much all industries in the world -- actors/actresses, bands, singers, idols, musicians, etc -- so I don't think they're being self-aware when they say they don't feel he's their possession.

aside from that I think this person brought up some good points, I see the "they believe they have a slim chance of dating their fave idol" brought up a lot as a reason for the reaction to dating scandals but I think it's not quite that. it's more like the idol not publicly seeing anyone plays into the feeling that they're faithful to the idol-fan relationship they have. lol it's hard for me to explain but I'm not trying to justify it, I wish people would view entertainers as just regular people who want to entertain others for a living and not form toxic relationships to them.

ia, i don't think delusional fans are as delusional as people want to make them look. it's not that they think they're losing a chance to date their oppar, it's that it kind of messes with the idol's image – just like when you know too much about an actor you start seeing them instead of their character. I clocked the power imbalance part of this when it came out. Like she's practically an executive at Cube, she's in a very high position in the company and she started to date him in 2016, when he was still a trainee. Hyuna hasn't done much to indicate that she'd abuse that position of power but it is there.

Moreso than dating a junior, I think pushing to create a subunit with her boyfriend was the most questionable thing they've done. The entire subunit was basically made for them with Hui tacked on and essentially a way for them to date publicly while secretly at the same time. It's just kind of a questionable business decision imo because if they ever broke up, that sinks the entire unit.

Some of y'all might disagree but I think these two admitting their relationship was one of the stupidest things they could have done. We all know kpop fans need to chill with the possessiveness but this scandal is impacting Pentagon at a crucial time in their careers, when they were finally having a come up and it's going to hit their domestic fandom. hard If they had been dating secretly for years then why not wait a while longer before going public. For Hyuna it doesn't matter much in terms of career impact but there are 9 other boys in Pentagon who are being impacted by this.

I'm conflicted about it because on one hand I think it's a good thing that more idols are going public with their relationships because if more idols do that, then maybe with time people will accept/normalize the concept that idols can date and it won't ruin their image/affect their fanbase (though I know this won't be happening anytime soon). On other hand, I do agree with you. Pentagon having dating scandals just as they're picking up steam is a bad idea because they're fandom hasn't solidified yet and since they don't have a solid fanbase, they're going to lose support as a result of these scandals.

As mentioned previously, these explanations/posts from fans made me understand CUBE's decision to stop their activities. The only thing I agree with is that I really wish Edawn would say/post something. I'm not sure about Hyuna's influence in making Triple H just so they could promote and spend time together because as I can recall, many are saying that Hyuna was asked to donate her time to help promote Pentagon. The term used was "charity".

Again, I really wish for Pentagon to survive this.
