When Mi So decides to resign from her job, hilarious misunderstandings ensue. After 9 years of their strictly-workplace relationship, can it now develop in something more?

Date: 2018-07-31 03:21 pm (UTC)But of course the show is not without criticism and I’ll let y’all comment on that but one thing I do want to comment on because it bugs me and I’m constantly seeing it in other dramas, is this pushy guy trope. I don’t know what the official name is but, I don’t like seeing these male leads constantly chasing the female lead and essentialially forcing her(let’s keep it real) to like him. Which is what was happening in this show. From beginning to end Young Joon was a “bulldozer” and it seemed like he was into Mi So more than she was into him and it became difficult to watch. It felt like he was straight up harassing her at times and whenever they were at the office it’s just like Young Joon stfu and let her breathe. I’m watching a drama on Netflix called “Meteor Garden”(which is a mess btw so watch at your own risk) with another bulldozer male lead who’s physically and emotionally abused the female lead all out of jealousy yet we’re supposed to be rooting for them.
IMO these kind of portrayals are not romantic at all and send a terrible message to young girls/women and even to young boys/men. This is not what healthy relationships look like or based on.

Date: 2018-07-31 06:00 pm (UTC)Things I disliked:
-Him acting pushy, "how dare you smile at other men in an attempt to be polite in the workplace!", that weird dumb fight they had for no reason the last episode (when somehow putting on her wedding dress made everything ok?), him continuously bringing personal stuff into work hours.
-The endless pointless couple scenes that made every episode 75 minutes. Cut things out please! I'm not sure why it was so annoying to me, I did like the couple but I did not need as many scenes with them as we got. My friend and I started skipping parts of their scenes these last few episodes.
-The ending where she was okay to just keep being the secretary forever, I'm glad the office people got to stay together but that just felt like a cop out to me. I definitely would not want to be around my husband all day every day like Mi So.
Things I liked:
-All the couples ending up together in the end. I loved the Ms Bong/Mr Yang romance and how obvious they were and everyone knew. It was adorable. I was actually surprised that I ended up being into the Chansung/new secretary pairing as well, when like ~6 episodes ago I was not liking that they were heading towards being paired up. I did like how their story evolved though. And good for his best friend for getting back with his ex and being happy, although that story definitely could have been better
-Mi So's earrings throughout the whole drama. Basically every office look of hers had some interesting earrings and I loved them. Also, her wedding dress was absolutely gorgeous (although her hair could have been better)
-Kang Ki Young as the best friend--he continues to be one of my favorite side character actors in dramas, I've seen most of his filmography and I like him in everything. More KKY!
-The office people ended up being really fun and I was afraid they were going to be annoying at the beginning. I love the friendships Mi So formed with Ms Bong and Ms Kim, that was cute (though where did her friends from the beginning of the drama go?)
-Brother got therapy, all I needed from this drama (sorry for the flop role, Lee Tae Hwan! I still like you, just not in this show)
All in all, I did enjoy it, but more as a middle of the road drama, not bad enough to completely steer people away from, but definitely won't be recommending it. Still formulating what rating I'll give it on MDL.
