On July 30, Hwang Chansung participated in an interview to commemorate the end of tvN drama “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim?” Among many topics, the singer did not forget to answer questions to Tacyeon’s recent departure from JYP and the future of 2PM with honesty.
First, Chansung shared with us about how much support he received from all bandmates while filming the drama. He said, “Junho hyung sent me a coffee truck. Also, Ok Tacyeon hyung came to the drama set himself. The location was Pyeongtaek, and he drove all the way there himself. Such a great guy.”
Further, Chansung discussed Tacyeon’s recent departure from JYP when he signed an exclusive contract with 51K Entertainment. He said, “we have talked about this even before he enlisted in the military. Much conversation went on between us, and we all respect his decision because none of us wanted to force the renewal of our contract. One thing he needs to keep in mind is that this cannot in anyway affect the future activities of 2PM. However, he always puts our group as a priority, and he promised us to keep it that way. That’s how everyone could respect his wishes to look at other companies and agencies.”
Moreover, he talked about how he balances life between his acting and singing careers. As an actor Chansung, he said, “sometimes, people don’t recognize me as a 2PM member. It makes sense that young students don’t know me since we haven’t promoted as 2PM recently. However, I did have a solo concert in Japan a few days ago. It was my first time standing on stage by myself and it was definitely a different feeling than standing with my members.”
Meanwhile, following the end of “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim?” Chansung will be performing in a musical “Altar Boyz” in Japan from August 24 to 26. Furthermore, he will hold a fanmeeting tour in Japan entitled “DJ Chansun’s Weird Music Camp” in September.
