I heard not long ago that she was supposedly trending for looking like Jennie. YGE remains transparent and creepy as fuck tbh, I feel bad for kids whose parents sell them out like this without a thought too

Lots of trainees start really young though? And if she's a child model, it makes sense that they wanted to sign her asap before another company snatches her away.

Most trainees indeed start at a really young age, but we hardly ever hear about that until after theyve debuted at a later age I guess? In any case, the entertainment industry is hardly a safe place for adults let alone children so I hope she's well looked after tbh

this doesn't sound like a trainee contract it sounds like they're taking over her management and she'll be doing work under them starting now.

i don't know if this comes off as insensitive but i wonder why it is that most of the biracial celebrities in korea have korean mothers and foreign fathers. idk just something i've been wondering

either way i know people see this as weird (and i do think it is) but it's nothing new, it's crazy to think jihyo has been with jyp for over 10 years when she's only 21 years old.

For comparison, in my developing country, it is because foreign women's needs, especially from developed country, considered hard to meet by our standard salary, which is low. Then, the men lose confidence.

It’s not insensitive. Not to sound like an /r/aznidentity user but I do think it’s easier for korean women to date white men than the other way around.

if you're asking why it seems more common for there to be foreign men/Korean women couples, there are many reasons, I think. for example, traditionally a daughter leaves her family when she gets married, and she doesn't carry her family name on, whereas sons (particularly first sons) are seen to carry on the family bloodline, so they have a lot of pressure to marry a good Korean girl from a good family. there's a common phrase amongst foreign women in Korea - don't date a first son because the parents will oppose and the relationship won't go anywhere.

so there's that traditional pressure. also, this is my personal opinion, but the average Korean man fckn sucks. if I was a Korean girl, I'd probably try to marry a foreigner who's less likely to treat me as a baby making machine, expect me to give up my career to raise children, and then ignore me for their 8am-11pm corporate job. does the foreigner have yellow fever? probably. but its a lesser evil.

that's interesting, thank you. it's something that i've noticed with japanese biracial celebrities as well. i know r/hapa is always pissed when it comes to white man/asian women pairings

From: [identity profile] premonitioner.livejournal.com
obviously white men are grossly over glorified and aren't perfect either, but it seems that there are fewer traditional (misogynistic) expectations for women in these communities if they marry outside of it.

I do see where the r/hapa anger comes from, given white ppls history of stealing everything

i did some research and i'm pretty sure korean women keep their surnames when they get married, but she can't carry the family name on because all her children take their father's surname. so it's a bit of both.

One of my good friends is half Filipino on her mother's side, and a while ago she told me about how her mothers one big goal in life had been to marry white. Her mother raised her to only speak English and refused to teach her Tagalog, has said horrible things about her own culture for as long as she can remember, and basically threw a fit because my friend wanted her future child (she's pregnant currently) to call her mom by a traditional Filipino word for grandparents. There is a lot of self-hatred there, and obviously this isn't the case with every person/culture, but it could be a factor in at least some of the relationships that you see.

I wonder if there really are more.. everyone I can think of has a Korean mom too. But I know it's pretty common for Korean men to marry SE asian women, especially in the countryside. Those kids don't become celebs, or they do and we just don't think of them as mixed?

"She has a special voice that is completely capable for being a singer"

does that mean a voice that they can train to mimic bom and rose? =/

special voice that is completely capable

girlie is 10, her voice will most likely change as she gets older. also, "completely capable" sounds like she has a mediocre voice that is good enough for 1-2 lines per song at its best. they're already marketing her as the visual... someone save that poor girl

I'm pretty sure Minzy joined YG around 11/12 also, so nothing new for K-entertainment companies preying on young individuals to suck dry and leave them hanging once all the profits been made.
She's a pretty girl I see her going into acting more than an Idol route, as the netizens say she has an "actress vibe"

she's already started acting, she has a role in the heathers tv show as the younger version of one of the characters, and she's already been in a good few of the episodes (though i don't watch it so i don't know how much screen-time she gets or if she's any good).

Oh wow, I thought she was just gonna be a trainee I really hope her parents are smart and aren't just exploiting her at such a young age. There's a smart way to handle child stars and there's also the not so great stories

I ran into a video of this kid when she was dancing with Gfriend, but when I learnt she was 9 I couldn't believe it! Kids being exposed like this (and their parents allowing it and making profit off it) is so wrong in many ways. And yes, I can watch her videos and admire how talented she is at such a young age, but I'm afraid most views will not come from people like me :/

to be fair, it seems like na haeun has a say in her career; apparently her song/mv were made for fun and not as an attempt to become an idol. of course no one can know the full reality of the situation if they're not involved, but most of my worries were assuaged after learning that. she's probably just a normal kid who likes to sing and dance.

My worry is more about overexposing little kids in general and how it may affect them, but anyway I am glad to hear that!
