In 2010, Girls' Generation will begin their first year for oversea promotions in full-scale.

In February they currently aim to release their new full length album and will now begin steps into Japan, China, Taiwan, Thailand, and other Asian markets and is preparing for a full-scale advance.

2010 girls 'age' first year as overseas samgo began preparing for full-scale.*

"They will perform their album in both foreign and domestic areas and will have a great opportunity to meet new fans." He continued to say that "We will start to move towards a larger goal."

Girls' Generation was voted the most likely to succeed in USA from a Korean website that surveyed 6146 people and in total 1768 people(28.77%) voted for SNSD and have high hopes for oversea expansion.

Last year the girls started with Gee and after Tell Me Your wish which caused a syndrome... Jessica made her musical debut, Yoona starred in Cinderella Man and Taeyeon's radio has been making more progress. There will more activities this year.

*I have no idea what this means. @_@; It sounds like it should be a reiteration of the first line? Idk.

This sounds more like they'll be promoting overseas with just the tour, but there's always that chance of a proper promotion in a country like Japan or China. I wonder where they'll go, if they do. My bets are on Japan, because I hear f(x) is supposed to be promoting in China. And at least Sooyoung speaks Japanese. xD

oversea = Asia, imo.

though if they were to do a real promotion then Japan will be more likely than China.

I hope they go to Taiwan, idky. I just believe that they should make a visit to Taiwan, like SJ-M and SHINee. :P

As much as I love the girls, I don't think they'd be as successful in the US because there are so many. People would freak out

As much as I would pee myself with excitement if they came here, there's no way they'd be successful. There are too many of them. :/

I actually think they'd be successful in US/North America since there is quite a few of them but, guys get attracted to pretty girls so they'd all be like :O

I know a lot of guys here (in Canada) that like SNSD because they thought they were pretty at first lol.

Girl groups would probably more successful than boy groups in US because most people would think that boy groups are trying to be some wannabe BSB, etc.

Yeah, same, I think they wouldn't fare too badly in the U.S. :) People always say things like "but the Americans will think they all look alike and can't tell the difference between them!!!!!!11" but I really don't think it's that bad, esp. if they have different hair colours/hair lengths/hairstyles/clothes. The nine-member girl group thing is also something that hasn't really been done before in the North American market either, so that's kind of an attention grabber too. I think as long as JeTi speak for them and they tailor their music toward the American market they would do pretty well~

I don't think it's the number that people in the states would disagree with. It's their music.

Date: 2010-01-08 01:45 am (UTC)

All of the above. The number of members and the style of music -- both of which are reminiscent of bubblegum pop girl/boybands -- plus the Engrish of 7 of 9 members all work against them here.

Probably Taiwan? Gee apparently has reached there as well.

If it's Japan then might it be an on-off kind of promotion, like what SJ and SHINee have done?

Girls' Generation was voted the most likely to succeed in USA from a Korean website

I'm not so sure about this :/
the pros are men will fawn over them which could create a fanbase but there are too many of them and people will complain about how they look the same
if this were to happen lets push hyoyeon and yuri to the forefront
idk idk it would be an interesting change of pace with what is popular right now here
I would go to their concert

but if they promote overseas (Japan,China wherever) lets promote sme and make sure the language isn't a problem

Pretty sure this is almost 100% about them expanding into other Asian countries. I even doubt they'll sing in another language unless they split off into subgroups like SJ did. They're probably talking about fanmeetings and stuff... Since they've 'conquered' Korea, it seems likely SM would want to push them to expand their fanbase (it's like their usual pattern).

USA? No D: Don't ruin a good thing, SM.

I think they would be more successful in Taiwan/China. I don't exactly follow the pop culture there diligently, but the Taiwanese artistes seem to exude a rather cutesy feel too, imo. Plus SM might be thinking of re-entering the China market with these girls since SJ-M is having problems? That is, if the China side still trusts SM...idk.

Oh and wasn't there a group of Chinese girls that dressed as SNSD for some cosplay event? Potential fans? Haha.

I think they'd do pretty well in Japan
Although japan already has their own AKB48 (or w/e) and MM, SNSD could really garner a fanbase over there with their looks and cutesy image that seems to be popular

US.. not so much, but their singing in English is almost flawless, seriously. (yes most of them, not just JeTi)
