-I appreciate the fact that Sakura is determined, but not once has her voice sounded good phew.

i now simultaneously dislike and feel bad for gyuri lol idk

Date: 2018-07-01 07:58 pm (UTC)I'd be a lot more sympathetic to Sakura if I hadn't watched her be pushed by AKB management to be 'the next akb center', but she never quite managed to convince everyone. There was a HUGE push for her in around...2015/16, but she couldn't overtake the more charismatic/talented powerhouses in the group (like Jurina, who won the damn general election this year, whereas Sakura came 3rd). Personally I've come to be overexposed to her being hyped beyond her abilities and am just meh about it now.

- Hitomi's dancing is A+
- Miyu's voice is needed in the final group imo and she deserves recognition since AKB fans don't seem to acknowledge her
- Tomu, I don't even know why. She's just solid and really cute and clearly really likes kpop
- Nako in that Love Whisper performance was great. She stole the show and her voice is really nice to listen to
And in the neverending Jurina vs Sakura battle I have no idea why MNET chose Sakura to push. Jurina has more stage presence and ability. She looks like she really loves performing. Maybe it was part of the deal with having the AKB girls on that MNET pushes Sakura and she's gauranteed a position for whatever reason.

boombayah group 1 should have chosen another group to compete against, that was too sad. poor chowon - it would be so hard to be the leader of a group that has already given up....

Date: 2018-07-01 08:47 pm (UTC)i'm waiting for the assessment videos to come out, idk why heo yunjin moved down :( i guess since she hasn't been training long and moved over recently from the us, maybe she hasn't learned to memorise choreo/lyrics quickly and struggled with two languages? it's a shame because she's so talented and has great stage charisma but if she learns slowly then i guess she needs to be an f. also I LOVE THAT SHE'S NOW JUST KIRIN-CHAN. I'm ready for her ending pose gif to become legendary.

ahn yoojin has a really lovely vocal tone! i didn't expect her to sound like that. her center audition was also really clever and funny.
i'm really glad a few japanese girls moved up to a and we only lost one japanese girl from it - and even then she only went down to a b. i hope that improves morale a bit. i also really like nako, she's got that charm that makes fans feel like she'd be an easy and fun friend.
it was nice that the first 20 mins of the episode were not 'the sakura show' but all good things come to an end! (i like her tho)
i preferred group 1 love whisper performance but idk what they were like live. their vocal tones matched the song better even if they had less skill. group two sounded far too babyish. nako carried the second performance.
also can we not follow teenagers into broom cupboards to film them crying, thanks.
i feel like half the episode was the build up to gyuri's vocal split...which was not that dramatic? like it was clearly a bad throat thing not a technique thing. nothing compared with chanmi. jesus.

I'd let both Gaeun and Jurina step on me tbh, and I think only Jurina would take me up on that offer and I'd enjoy every second of it. I mean Jurina barely got anything in ep2 and Gaeun has gotten a few decent scenes, I really liked that one of her and Sakura interacting during the centre battle, but come ON. Give homegirl a narrative arc MNet! Don't do her a dirty like you did with Ren during Broduce.
Other early favs for me are Noe because that smile is infectious and that Nako power after the Love Whisper performance isn't to be trifled with. Didn't Nako basically score the equivalent of the total votes Group 1 got? Damn girl.
Ahhh I don't have high hopes for the Boombayah showdown. I can already see how MNet is gonna milk it (especially since Erii has been given a super woeful kicked puppy image) and I don't need to see five repeats of the same crying scene thanks.

Now they gave them even more time to practice (and even make signs). Mnet is really stretching and trying to make this a thing.
I'm kind of sick of all the Sakura focus, but you have to admit she works hard and always tries to appeal to the Korean and Japanese trainees

It's so weird seeing these adults screaming their heads of for these (at some times middle-school talent showesque) performances. Music shows don't really show fan reactions like American shows, so I forget.
With Eun Chae it kind of feels, I don't want to say "desperate" but it's like she's so eager. It's not just that she's a hard worker but she's always really affected by the feedback and just wants this so much.

I think I confused Wonyoung and Gyuri to be the same person at more than one point, especially during the team battle. Oops...
My goodness! What is this ending edit? Why would you show one team's song "Peek-a-Boo" then not finish and show the other team battle "Very Very"? THEN have the even stranger edit of of blurring out the blue team? Maybe the pixels were meant to mimic the 8-bit style, but we know you the team is and you showed them anyway? What'

Wang Yi Ren also must debut, her skill is ordinary but she's too pretty on stage to be neglected
