parts of this interview just kinda make me sad :( the bits about happiness and be strong.
I see it a lot on twitter and tumblr with fans complaining they aren't doing enough or specifically not enough of what they want them to be doing but I think they really should be focusing on projects and work that bring them as much joy and peace as possible, even if it means doing nothing at all. they've worked so hard for so many years they deserve to enjoy it in a way that suits them at this point in their Idol careers.
EDIT: not to start this with a total bummer comment! I really love a lot of these pics. Thank you GQ for not editing out his leg hair! finally one publication that appreciates it lol
What do the fans want them to be doing? They seem so active for a non-promoting group (but maybe that's because I'm used to girl groups and like...where are Sonamoo??), with fanmeets and photoshoots and acting and all of that stuff.
A lot of fans think they need to be on more variety shows and getting more solo releases mostly.
When they aren’t doing active group promotions and split up like they are it’s hard to keep track of just how much they’re doing and I’m sure it’s frustrating if you really love variety shows and your fave isn’t doing them but, for example, suho had 5 projects going on at the same time in the past 3 weeks. most of them have 2 or 3 and then on top of that some of them are actively in uni/masters/phd programs. With more idols talking about being overworked and a lot say they have no hobbies seeing fans complain and want more is really irritating.
Iirc this shoot plus interview was shortly after his father passed so I think that's why the sadness is tangible in his answers. But he has alluded to having depressive periods before.I think he's someone who's a lot more sensitive than he let's on
Knowing that timeline is why it was making me sad for him. His dad and jonghyun within 6 months and getting be strong thrown at him and his closest friends :(
interesting article. i like the questions that they asked. lately i've been interested in different people's definitions of happiness, so it was nice to see that here as well. hope he is healthy and happy.
