On June 25, Mihwadang Records uploaded a statement of apology on their official website regarding the investigation into allegations of the group bulk buying their albums. In the statement, the album retailer explained that the first and second rounds of investigation had both found that the large purchase of material did not fall under sajaegi (manipulation of album sales through bulk buying).
Previously, it was revealed that the 8,261 albums of MOMOLAND’s third mini album “Great!” (which was sold on February 12) were almost double the number of albums the group sold back in January. This led to accusations of sajaegi and Hanteo Chart requested an investigation into the matter, which has now been completed.
A source from the group’s agency MLD Entertainment stated, “It is a relief that the misunderstanding has been resolved through the results of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism’s first and second round of investigations. Thank you to everyone who believed and supported us until the end. We hope that this controversy will be put to rest. MLD Entertainment and MOMOLAND will do their best to advance and add to K-pop.”
