Tiffany Young Talks New Girls' Generation Music: 'The Time Will Come'

Tiffany Young caught up with Billboard’s Chelsea Briggs to provide an update as to when fans might be able to expect new music from Girls’ Generation.

Asked when she sees Girls’ Generation having a comeback performance or releasing new music again, Young says, “I told the girls, I said, ‘Hey I’m a free agent. I am enjoying this. Let me know when you want me. I can be there.’”

“Business is business, but my bandmates are my bandmates,” she continues. “My girls are my girls. We are each other’s, so in time -- I do believe that. That’s what we said to each other. I believe the time will come and they were very much supportive since my solo [career] and they were just like, ‘This is exciting 'cause this is so different and this is so you.'”

Young adds that they are all curious about each other’s solo projects, adding, “It’s nice to see each bandmate really pushing outside of what we’re comfortable with.”

K-pop singer Tiffany Young caught up with Billboard’s Chelsea Briggs to play “First, Best, Last, Worst,” revealing the moment she felt the most starstruck, the television show she is currently obsessed with and more.

Asked what her first big purchase was, Young reveals that it was a car, adding with a laugh that it wasn’t even that expensive. “But it was my first car,” she says. “I had a pink Chevrolet Spark, and I was so happy about it.”

The Girls’ Generation star also divulges that she met Baz Luhrmann at a fashion show last year and was overwhelmed with excitement. “I am the biggest Baz Luhrmann nerd,” Young shares, adding that she brought up the idea of him making her next music video, to which he accepted her offer to meet about it. “He knew who I was,” she exclaims.

Young also gushes about her love of RuPaul’s Drag Race when asked what the last show she binge watched was. “I’m such a fan,” she tells Briggs. “The queens just make you so positive and they make you feel understood and I just love the way they remind me of Girls’ Generation.”

Additionally, the singer chats about her worst onstage moment to date, recalling the time she danced in the opposite direction of her bandmates. “Everyone says that is what made me famous,” she shares. “It’s sad because for me, I was so focused on singing live that I couldn’t change my mic and that’s why I went the other way. But you know what? It happened and I don’t regret it at all and for a long time -- maybe like most of my career -- I could not look at it or own it, but now, looking back at it, 11 years ago, it’s pretty cute now!”

I can't help but be bitter at this, not at her success good for her, I mean in the sense that they left Jessica for dead but now that half the members are out of SM they still say things like 'my girls are my girls'. It just rubs me the wrong way with this whole sisterhood nonsense, clearly we see how much say they have against the company if their 'bonds' couldn't keep them together as 9.. even after leaving the company she's still a SM puppet, either that or she's one of the girls that wanted Jessica out lol oh well

Tiffany probably still wants to have a career in Korea (even after it was pretty much destroyed). By admitting she’s friends with Jessica or anything, would essentially just kill it even further. I’m sure she still wants to promote with GG and have Korea hate her less, lol.

I'm still a little bitter too. I wish things had gone differently for Jessica, my heart still wants an eventual reunion for all 9.

And even if Tiff played a part in kicking Jess out, she's a hard worker and is clearly passionate about making music. I really hope this single is good and gains traction, I still want her to do well!

Same. As a fan of SNSD for years now, t's been hard to reconnect how the 8 of them are so openly close on sns (which is still nice to see) and yet, still not acknowledging Jessica. How can they talk about a sister bound then? I get there's a lot more than just the 9 of them (Jessica probably didn't have as much negociation power than SooSeoTiff when they left SM) which is why I was able to let most of the disappointment/anger go, but still, it's frustrating.

I'm so confused about this SNSD setup so like Seo, Soo and Tiff left SM but are still expected in SNSD? Is that all talk or is SM actually gonna let them be with the group and not as featured artists?

Seo and Tiff are free agents, so a reunion (or a collab if you wanna call it that) is something the've said they're open to; Sooyoung's agency said they would also fully support and accomodate her activities with SNSD. The only question here is whether SM will allow it, but I'm hopeful seeing as how the three still refer to themselves as SNSD and introduce themselves like that from time to time.

Crap, forgot Fany signed in America. Since she mentioned how the girls just had to give her a call for a reunion, I'm thinking she also set up an agreement of sort to be allowed to promote as an associated act.
