On May 25, singer MoonMoon was reported to be currently on probation for secretly filming a woman.
On May 24, according to a media source, MoonMoon was exposed after being caught secretly filming a woman in a public unisex bathroom in Gangnam on August 2016. The victim reported him to the police, and after MoonMoon partly admitted to the charges during police investigations, he was sentenced to a two-year probation.
MoonMoon’s agency House of Music, a new label under Starship Entertainment, decided to end their exclusive contract with the singer and cancel all his upcoming schedules. When MoonMoon signed with House of Music in November 2017, he did not disclose his criminal records and the agency had remained unaware of the situation until now.
The agency’s full statement is as follows:
“Hello, this is House of Music.
“We apologize for concerning many of you regarding the disgraceful reports of MoonMoon on May 25.
“The case took place before we signed exclusively with MoonMoon and we were unaware of the situation. As soon as we confirmed the facts, we ended the exclusive contract and canceled all schedules.
“We decided to terminate the exclusive contract based on the judgements that the said case would have a great social impact, and that our mutual trust in communicating with the artist cannot be maintained.
“Once again, we are deeply sorry for worrying everyone.”
MoonMoon debuted in July 2016 with his single “Moon, Moon.” “Contrail,” the title track of his first mini album, is his most successful song yet, having taken top spots in music charts including Genie and Olleh.

Date: 2018-05-27 06:40 pm (UTC)like the twitter thread referenced, my classmates told me to look out for lots of holes near the door handle/lock, and that's where I found it (it was the only little hole that you couldn't see through to the other side).
and hearing that a lot of the times they're placed under the toilet seat now?? so you're basically never safe...
I also wonder the same thing, like it's not widespread knowledge outside of korea (afaik) so no one looks out for them and thus no one finds them kind of thing.
mte. i get the argument of "if we separate people more then it causes the gap of understanding to get even bigger!" but at the same time i only feel safe when i'm completely separated from cis men so...

Date: 2018-05-27 09:43 pm (UTC)Were you ever told how exactly they work? Like how are they powered, do they store the footage or is it sent somewhere as it's recorded? I wish we had some sort of giant women newsletter that we could use to warn everyone about stuff like this because they seem to be banking on our ignorance here (I know for sure none of my friends would be suspicious about seeing holes in bathroom doors for starters)
And I hear you about the segregation thing. It's crazy because it's something I would have never ever agreed with when I was younger because it reminds of extreme religious dictatorships or something but at this point I'm just like ANYTHING to be able to get a break from men. It's like we're talking to a wall, they just straight up don't seem to care if it has no consequences for them.

Date: 2018-05-29 07:07 pm (UTC)iirc they're battery powered and have some kind of microSD in them for storage, and a lot of the time/always they have to go back to collect the footage/camera from the bathroom. I think it def became so widespread BECAUSE of that ignorance (like I said above - you can't really be worried if you don't know something like that is a thing).
I remember reading a while ago about segregated "otaku rooms" in Japan where women could go to share with other people of different fandoms (they would go to play videogames together, had tables to work on cosplay together etc) and men were SUPER livid about it..but in my personal experience "nerdism" is one of the most rancid, misogynistic subcultures I've ever taken part in, so I would be 100% down with having my own space to partake in fandoms with other fellow nerds without feeling in danger/uncomfortable??
