Katie Kim has reportedly parted ways with YG Entertainment.

According to a news outlet on May 24, the “K-Pop Star 4” winner recently left YG Entertainment and is preparing for her debut at another agency.

As the winner of “K-Pop Star 4,” one of the prizes was the opportunity to choose between JYP Entertainment, YG Entertainment, and Antenna Music and release a debut album. She chose YG Entertainment and joined the agency in 2015.

Most recently, Katie Kim made a guest appearance at iKON’s concert in Japan in December 2017. However, she reportedly decided to leave the agency after not seeing signs of a debut for three years.

It seems so. I'm looking forward to more exits.

Wow, this is so sad. I mean people from KPOP STAR from Antenna & JYP (some of who didn’t even win) have become real successes from this show, and even AKMU from YG. But this girl has seen no action at all in all that time and she won? YG really ain’t shit, and he is proving it more and more this year.

Choosing YG was a horrible decision in the first place

+1

I get that it might have looked good back in 2015 though.

She should be able to sue them for wasting her time like they did. She's a 93 liner, that's ancient by idol standards nowadays. Not sure why they didn't just put her in Blackpink, they could do with another vocal

YG is only alright for male trainees/idols tbh, and even then, you're lucky if you get a cb once a year or so. There's no hope for girls in that company despite the loyalty of their fans.

Mte, the whole industry is misogynistic but YG it's so blatant and obvious

Ironic since 2ne1 and BP are apparently girl power/girl crush groups...

Moronic as hell, since these girl groups would make them millions. It's like they don't like money if it comes from females.

I think no one is surprised.

I honestly wonder why its very hard for YG to come out with new materials. If you dont have enough manpower, go hire outside composers or lyricists for your artists.

Good for her. Also, did YGE ever debut her? Aren't the agencies of the winners from this show contractually obligated to debut them within a year from them winning the show? She should be able to sue them, or at least politely ask through her lawyer for money for damages cost due to lost potential promotion time and probably other damages.

Wait... She WON and still saw no signs of debut?
Good fucking riddance to that company. The poor girl would have gone nowhere even if she debuted there tbh.

To all the people asking her to sue YG: it depends which type of contract she signed. I guess most artists start with trainee contracts and only sign as an artist once they debuted/shortly before. If this is the case she won't be able to sue because technically he did provide for her training period, if nothing else was stated in the contract... Unless she had a guaranteed debut clause like some SM artists (e.g. yeri) but I doubt YG included that in the contract.

to add on, I think that Busker Busker mentioned previously that after winning Superstar K (granted different shows, but I guess there is similarity), they were quickly ushered into the party and pressured to sign a contract that night. so I won't be surprised if something similar happened and she got pulled into some shady shit.

You would expect something like this to come with a guaranteed debut clause but I’m sure they had to sign a “no guarantee of debut for participation” clause to even be on the show and YG is using that against her.

It honestly blows my mind how YG gets away with being such a shitty company. Surely if this was any other industry they would be out of business by now.

Because YG clearly hates women and doesn't want them to succeed (even if it means money for YG)

i used to be such a huge YG fan and its so sad to see how they are mismanaging their artistes. i really wonder what's going on internally. the gradual downfall is just so sad to see when they used to be such a powerhouse.

It'll be interesting to see how many artists will be as eager to sign with YG as they had been over the past few years.
