Okay forreal, where were all these great interviewers when BTS was doing their US. media junket? All of NCT's appearances so far have been so much fun to watch and not that awkward. Maybe having more than one english speaker helps
Anyway this interviewer was great, he went along with their answers really well and was pretty good at the choreo to boot, he made it fun. Watching Johnny crack up at the "Mama we made it" killed me
previously i wouldnt have thought it makes that much difference, but now i really think having multiple english speakers improves the atmosphere. cause even if they're not all actively participating in answering questions, at least they look like the understand what is happening. when bangtan was doing interviews half the time it was 6 members sleeping with their eyes open while rap mon goes on lengthy tangent answers lmao. plus it probably makes it easier for the other members to judge how to react, like if johnny, mark AND jaehyun are laughing it's like "oh! that was a joke! i should laugh too!" i guess as a group they're probably more used to english as well if johnny/mark/ten/jaehyun speak it around the dorms and stuff (idk if they do). i noticed taeyong in particular responds very quickly to the interviewers remarks and reactions which makes me think he has a pretty good listening comprehension. the non-english speaking members of nct might just be all around more comfortable with english than bangtan and that's why these interviews feel a little less awkward.
... sorry for the long reply lmao. its fun to think about.
I definitely think NCT's non-english line have more comfort/fluency with English than BTS'. In the Young Hollywood interview Taeyong and Haechan impressed me with some of their answers, I definitely think those two understand more than they let on and it shows in the group atmosphere.Even Taeil and Doyoung managed to get some humor across.
But I also have to give credit to the interviewers/staff since the set up of these interviews has been pretty fun with the games and dance lessons and stuff and we've managed to avoid a lot of the stupider questions BTS got.
a little bit of both. they were in LA for the korean music festival and will be back next month for kcon. sm is definitely pushing them hard this year in general to try and get them to catch on and get their big break.
I love that their American media circuit interviews don't suck, and it seems that most of the media outlets are somewhat aware of them and their music which is hysterical considering even the Korean media outlets still can't wrap their head around the NCT brand concept
