PRISTIN Announces Plans For First Sub-Unit Debut

PRISTIN is debuting its first sub-unit! On May 9, news outlet MyDaily reported that the group’s new sub-unit called PRISTIN V recently filmed a music video for their upcoming title track. The sub-unit will reportedly consist of five members, including Kyulkyung, Nayoung, Rena, Eunwoo, and Roa. In response to these reports, a source from Pledis Entertainment confirmed that the sub-unit will release a track sometime this month. However, they refrained from giving further details, saying, “We will reveal members of the sub-unit later.” Are you pumped for PRISTIN’s first sub-unit?

i hate this. they could've at least included yuha to complete unnie line, but no, only the most popular members!! (and what does the "v" stand for? visual? give me a break) i'm guessing xiyeon is missing either because of her leg or age since this is supposed to be a dark (read: sexy) comeback, otherwise she'd be part of this too. seems like pledis aren't ready to announce kyla's departure form the group yet, so we're stuck with this for now.

While I'm glad some girls get to work (this hiatus is getting reaaally long for a rookie group no matter how active they are on vlive), it would have been a good opportunity to raise the popularity of less popular members... Pledis why TT
Yuha would have been PERFECT and I'm sure Sungyeon would have done well like with Black Widow (bless Yehana she's one of my fave and so talented but I understand her not being picked for a dark/sexy concept).

They even could have split the girls into two subunits balancing popularity/concepts/talents (like After School Red/Blue back then) while Xiyeon and Kyla are missing but nooo let's just go with the most popular members and keep the others unactive, it's fine! Let's feed "fans" who only care about a few members, again, it's fine!

I should have known not to trust Pledis with another GG because right now, I'm pissed.
I'll still support the girls but this is frustrating.

I agree, this is mostly why I'm nhf this lol. If they did a AS Red/Blue concept I'd be really excited but since it's just continuing having talented members like Yehana and Sungyeon being ignored is frustrating.

Yes I'm already so over Yehana, Sungyeon and Yuha being ignored.
Pledis has gold on their hands, it's the only post-IOI group with popular members among their fanbase who were NOT in IOI and the predebut concerts were such a good idea! But I've been super frustrated with their management since We Like. If I knew how frustrating it would be, I don't think I would have stanned IOI so hard lol each management has issues and none of the girls (IOI or not) deserve it.
They could do a wacky fun concept ala Bboom Bboom with four girls and the dark/sexy one with the four others, they don't have to go full cute like AS Blue.
This said I will still support Pristin V haha I'm using this post to vent XD

...eh, I'm not really into it so far. Of course I'll listen when they come out, but I already feel like there's a divide amongst fans, like fans who are for OT10 and fans who only care about half (ish) of the group, and this is just favoring fans of the latter. I think I'd be more open to this down the road in their career, not so early in the beginning.

Dang, I understand why people are skeptical about this but I’m excited!!! They’re finally getting to do something other than rot in Pledis’ basement!!! The unit also consists of 3 out of my top 4 so it’s hard not to be excited.

Wonder if it’ll just be a digital single or a mini album?

Also I thought the V was like Roman numeral 5 but knowing Pledis...it probably does stand for visual -_-

This group's management is a mess.

Like we joke a lot about Blackpink's hiatus but Pristin's has been only two months shorter than theirs. Blackpink at least had hits but Pristin's last song flopped hard because Pledis won't give them decent tracks. For a rookie group to be awol this long after two comebacks is a terrible call and then to top it off, now they're coming back with a subunit?

They only debuted a year ago and idt doing a subunit so quick is the way to go but it might bring in more fans while they also try and get Pristin more earworm worthy songs.

I can't help but feel Momoland's success has a lot of agencies with young GG a bit shook as to where to go with their own groups. and OP V probably stands for Five instead of Visual (at least I hope they wouldn't be that tacky).

Omg I'd love if Momoland sparks a new trend with girl groups, their song was so refreshing (....for kpop lmao, as a song itself it's still pretty dated but I love dated music lbr) so I'd love to see it influence the current girl groups

there's definitely been a gap in the "lets not take ourselves too seriously but also lets jump right into super cutesy" with girl groups lately. Momoland and EXID got it right and I think everyone else is trying to figure out what to do now.

Maybe some of them realized they can extend their gg shelf life by not only pandering to men. Maybe.

I don't understand why they don't go with a pristin comeback instead of a sub-unit, even if they were missing some members. I think it's better to make their main group name stronger than creating more confusion with a subunit.
