Urban Zakapa’s Jo Hyun-ah denies rumors with Myname’s Chaejin

Jo Hyun-ah, a vocalist of R&B trio Urban Zakapa, denied rumors that she is dating Chaejin of K-pop boy band Myname.

On Saturday evening, rumors of the relationship surfaced online after a video of the two looking intimate at a private setting went viral on social media. The two met when Jo served as a mentor on KBS’ idol competition show “The Unit” and Chaejin competed in the show as a contestant.

The leaked clip showed Chaejin leaning toward Jo while wearing shorts and comfortable home wear. A glass of wine and a pack of cigarettes were spotted on a table as well. Netizens claimed that the pair looked overly intimate in the photo, speculating that the two could be more than just a mentor and a mentee, or even in a romantic relationship.

Following the rumors, Jo’s agency MakeUs Entertainment officially denied the rumors Sunday, stating, “The video was taken while the two were drinking together at a mutual acquaintance’s home and playing a game. They are just close friends who got to know each other through ‘The Unit.’”

Netizens, however, showed lukewarm reactions to the explanation, writing comments such as “The video will have a huge impact on Jo’s pure image” and “Chaejin’s almost underwear-like shorts and their position, they doesn’t look like they’re just friends.”
