i know it's extremely disproportionate to what they brought in but that's still a huge earning compared to what any other group would get in their first 2 years. the exposure of those shows alone make them absolutely worth it.

Date: 2018-03-27 05:05 pm (UTC)Like yes it's tiring and they shouldn't be run into the ground but they don't really do anything except record the songs, learn the choreo, and be a personality. Emotional labour with fans is the most taxing thing asked of them imo.

Date: 2018-03-27 05:28 pm (UTC)I've seen artists complain (complain is the wrong word choice here because a lot of them have a point when they do) the way they have about cuts when they look at the overall profits and realize their take home in comparison is tiny so that's where my brain went when they were talking about it.

Date: 2018-03-27 08:03 pm (UTC)uhm.... you know that idols do much more than record songs, learn the choreo and "be a personality"? they have to get up early after only getting 1-2 hours of sleep (if they get any sleep at all), have to travel to schedules every day (in the car, by plane), have to do soundchecks + perform (which is physically tiring), put on a smile and be happy in front of the cameras even when they feel like shit, ... list goes on.
i know that korea is only a small market but kpop is huge, so their singers should earn as much as their western counterparts.

Date: 2018-03-27 08:30 pm (UTC)I'm not downplaying the technical skill it takes to do their jobs well I said the emotional labour should be something they get paid for (and paid well) because that's something not many people talk about but is something expected of them at all times but comparative to other artists, and even other idols, the creative/technical workload is different.
