They have this rock-hop thing going on? Is that a thing cause I was NOT expecting that from awaken with the acoustic preview. And rock is really interesting.

Congrats Chan/Changbin/Jisung - this was amazing. So much fucking potential. Ugh so much talent. pure fucking talent.
1. Not! Chan with the spoken word intro!! With his accent. This is so cool!!! I love the brass with the base and the sirens. What an intro! 2. District 9 Amazing! It sounds like it could be a theme song for a huge summer action blockbuster. I'm glad they went with something big and loud for their debut. These kids invented JYPE rappers. That drop after the chorus *kisses fingers like a chef* 3. Mirror Oohh I'm liking that these songs feel like they have a consistent theme. Vocal line get more to do here. Woojin still being my biggest problem. :\ There's a funky baseline here for the verses that sounds great. 4. Awaken IS THIS FELIX STARTING THE SONG??? This is giving me flashbacks to like, WB shows that had rock songs as intros haha I like it! 5. Rock asdlfjkhaks I'm so amused at how many times they have Felix do the intro! "Give me a shout out!" in his Aussie accent! So cute. OH WOW This song goes LOUD!! It's fun!! I think this might be one of my faves just cause it's so dynamic. 6. Grow Up I love the whistling detail. Their "slower" songs are really nice. 7. 3rd Eye UM HOLY SHIT!!!! This is it. This is THE song of the album! Give us those Aphex Twin clicking sounds! Felix's verse!! Give us those soft vocals! Give us the whispers!! I'm shaking!!
Over all, pretty solid album. It's cohesive and consistent in theme. I like that they basically know what direction they're headed musically, which is pretty rare to see in a debut. They have Felix with his really deep voice, and it's nice to see that they're using it pretty effectively. The songs definitely aren't "general public friendly", they're heavily rock-hip-hop leaning. I do enjoy them a lot though. 3rd Eye is my favorite so far.
I'M OBSESSED WITH HOW ROCK HEAVY THIS IS!!! i don't know the right way to put it, rock-hop(????) but it's SO good and dark! NOT!: Chan's Australian accent is everything, i love the instrumentals in the background District 9: I've listened a few more times, and i LOVE how loud it is!!! it's bold, and it just announces their presence. Stray Kid's rappers are everything Mirror: i'm obsessed with how cohesive it feels!!! it seems like a very natural transition from District 9, and i'm definitely going to put this one on my playlist Awake: FELIX ON THE INTRO!!!!!!! And I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE x100000000 the little murmured "happy happy" in the bridge. This is one of my favorites for sure Rock: I was NOT ready for that beat!!!! it's a bit more upbeat than everything else, but then the rappers come in and KILL IT!! The beat changes are so good and engaging, it keeps you listening through the entire thing Grow Up: Finally the sentimental track we've been waiting for. The whistling at the beginning is already iconic, VOCALS!!! i love chan's singing voice. i can definitely see this one becoming a mainstay on my playlists 3rd Eye: i'm a sucker for the slow heartbeats sound effects always. i love the minimalism of the backing track against the rapping. and the ghostly oooohs in the chorus!!!!
overall, a really really solid debut album. i like basically everything off of it, and i'm gonna be listening to probably all of them consistently. good job, kids, and good luck on your debut!!!!!
