Official Chinese remake of Produce 101 to premier in April

The official Chinese version of “Produce 101” will be premiering sometime in April.

Since last year, Tencent has been carefully preparing for the Chinese version of “Produce 101.” Recently, they released official posters and related announcements through an official social media account.

According to Chinese media outlets, this upcoming version of “Produce 101” will be produced by Tencent through an official contract with Mnet, who holds the copyright for the show. It aims to air at the end of April.

Prior to this, Mnet addressed another currently airing Chinese audition program, “Idol Producer,” which was accused of plagiarizing the format of “Produce 101.” The program’s distributor, CJ E&M, also warned that the show’s format was not obtained through official methods, and to refrain from calling it the “Chinese ‘Produce 101.'”

lol how many idol trainees does china have

with ow blatant idol producer's copying has been and the amount of k-pop idols (and companies like yuehua and well-known trainees) involved in it, i'm surprised there hasn't been more backlash against it. apparently, there were over 200 million votes for the second round too, so idk if this one will top that or not

the rumor is that IP gets "help" from Mnet w/out buying the rights and that's why they can get away with everything they're doing and they also have k-staff so yeah. some people said it's just Mnet being shady and got money from both iqiyi and tencent idk.

but anyway, i'm sooooo invested with IP even though i know i wont follow the boys after this (unless i found a way, bc tbh i'm not familiar w/chinese ent), cried a lot last night watching the elimination, i vote everyday, the whole thing really. and i'm probably gonna watch this one too if anyone sub it lol. although it's girls, so probably i won't be as invested.
