Opening & closing ceremonies will take place in Pyeongchang Olympic Stadium. Built at approximately $58M, the open-roof stadium (get ready to freeze) was built specifically for both opening and closing ceremonies, but will not host any athletic events. The stadium seats 35,000 people, who may experience the coldest Olympics to date. A recent concert at the PyeongChang Olympic stadium saw 6 reported cases of hypothermia.

The ceremony director teases "The theme for the Closing Ceremony is “Next Wave”. It will have a festival atmosphere to recognise and celebrate the athletes’ hard work and achievements at the Games. We have created a show that looks towards the future; it includes quite a lot of traditional Korean humour and fun elements to add to the party feel."
