If you wanna know more about the other members, they were on a really funny Weekly Idol episode (https://youtu.be/_rxJPxv1Wf0) with Golden Child (even though sharing the spot made only the extra members of both groups stand out) + they currently have a VLive show with short episodes where you can learn about the quieter members as well (first episodes were posted here (https://omonatheydidnt.livejournal.com/21909454.html)). They're an entertaining group!
So much better than their debut! they kept the same energy but with a more simple song lmao and it works, at least for me. Still a lot of Doyeon/Yoojung/Suyeon but the other vocalists (mostly Rina & Sei, Elly only a little) have more parts so it doesn't feel as imbalanced as IDLYG was.
tbh I didn't even know Rina was a vocalist till this track. but at least this track kinda made it seem like they don't depend on Suyeon so much for vocals?
Lol it was just an assumption for me because the first mini-album wasn't good at showing what Rina could do. She barely had any lines even in bsides, don't even occasionally sing-talk like Lua/Elly or rap like Lucy; isn't part of the dance-line like Lua/Lucy; doesn't really stand out in variety; isn't really used as visual either. But the first mini-album was mostly Suyeon/Doyeon/Yoojung anyway, with Sei vocally stepping up in the bsides and Lua/Lucy managing to get some attention on the sides for dance/variety skills. Butterfly changed it a bit since Rina got more lines than usual in it, and the same kind of lines as Doyeon and Sei. I don't know if she was a vocalist all-along or if she progressed a lot since debut, but it made me look forward to her joining the vocal-line eventually. And it happened! Now the company needs to find a way to brand Elly and we're set lol. (sorry that was a long answer TT)
no worries about the long answer! but yes I feel like Elly (and Sei) haven't exactly found their spot yet, and I'm hoping future comebacks will help establish that. especially since they were both in P101 (?) so it would have been nicer if there was more spotlight on them!
Apparently Elly trained in acting before training as an idol, maybe they'll try to get her to act? though I'm expecting Doyeon to be pushed forward first. Out of all the members, she's the one that lacks a specific identity/position for me, I can think of something for everyone (Sei is already in the vocal line to me + she was a rapper on P101, she'll be ok) but Elly? not sure yet. Though it's just the 2nd album, it's fine that some members haven't grown fully into their positions. And in the end, it's all on the company, I feel like they have a really good line-up (strong performers, lots of potential) but it's "easier" to focus on the IOI girls (Gugudan is the same story, as much as I love them).
line distribution is so much better on this track, and yes this is a much better song than their debut. not sure if the early 2010s sound is intentional, but I still like it.

I honestly really like this song, their debut song was cringeworthy but finally grew on me, while this one I find much less embarrassing on the first listen. I like their style a lot
But yea the line distribution is basically Gugudan and Cosmic Girls bad. Lua and Lucy had some lines where Elly and Rina had very little in the debut, and here it's vice versa. But the whole big groups with 2-3 members doing most of the work is getting really old. Pristin is the main post IOI group to get it right and let most of the girls shine in some way (could be better but I'll take it lol)
Also jsyk this criticism is toward the company, I know these girls work hard and I still want them to do well.
idlyg was a masterpiece and i will brook no argument on that, but this one... i'll give it time? it sounds the same all the way through, which i guess is overcorrecting for the complicated structure of idlyg, but for me this song is kinda... boring. at first listen. however the line distribution is improved and i like the aesthetic, so overall i'm happy.
THANK YOU! I love IDLYG. Still not bored of it. I don't think it sounds disjointed at all. Everything flows and balances really well for me. Like you, I agree this sounds the same all the way through, no ups and downs, no build up. It's good but nothing special. Hopefully it will grow on me (I like the choreo)

Is that sign language in the Butterfly choreo? If so, well done Weki Meki. I like this song but it sounds more like an album track. It has the same energy level through out. Maybe it's more of a grower for me.
