On the February 16 episode of SBS’s reality show, “Law of the Jungle in Patagonia,” DIA member Jung Chae-yeon collapsed after enduring 70 hours without food. To put that into context, that is just shy of the 72-hours that marks a whole three days.

In the episode, the singer shed tears as she complained of severe stomach pain induced by the lack of food. The entire cast was having trouble finding food for themselves — a possibility given the show’s concept. Fortunately, a staff doctor was there to conduct an examination.

Kim Byung-man insisted that Jung Chae-yeon to “go to the base camp and recover,” saying if she stayed she wouldn’t be able to get better. Although she obliged Kim Byung-man, she apologized as she headed off to the base camp.

The singer fully recovered and is a new MC on music show “Inkigayo.”

I still don't get why they went to such an inhospitable place, with altitudes that are not a joke for people that is not accustomed. I mean, those places are literally rocks and glaciers, with some forest at lower altitudes, but even there the food is scarce.

Poor girl, she looked so thin at Inkigayo.

that's crazy, fam... they prolly can't even do anything legally about this, either, if it's covered in a contract.

i know patagonia is pretty but you dont have to go this far just for a tv show....
why you think nobody lives there? even for people in south america that's a hard place to reach and we know weather can be tricky/dangerous

law of the jungle dont seem to know what they are dealing with

How is this even legal? And knowing MBK, I bet they won't do a thing about it.

?????? everyone knows you're supposed to fake these kinds of reality TV shows, like giving the actors food and water off camera did SBS not get the memo? jesus christ idols are under fed as it is this is bullshit

i heard the show got heavily criticized for giving actors food and water off camera which is why they apparently don't anymore???? which makes no sense imo

I understand people criticising it, but if someone's health is endangered there should be like a time limit after which the crew interferes, and it should not be as long as 70 hours (I'd say even 24 would be pushing it)

This show should be cancelled long long ago

imo 12 hours without food at all should be the limit, add that they were moving actively in this show

idg how this show even still on. it's basically doing the same thing in different location. the not eating part is one of the thing i can't imagine, especially when they have to do heavy physical activities.

Why is the Korean entertainment industry always pulling these kinds of stunts jfc

Well it's not like this is the only show ever with this kind of concept. But while the concept might sounds ok and even cool on paper, the people involved in this kind of show should be and only be the experts or trained for this. The problem with lotj is they keep casting these celebrities who are sometimes complete amateurs in this field to join dangerous stunts without any proper back up plan...
Also I remember back then when i watched the episodes where jin collapsed because of extreme exhaustion...smh
