The Police arrested two women aged 20 and 23, on 28 and 30 January 2018 respectively for misusing their boarding pass at the transit area of Changi Airport. Investigations revealed that, the 20-year-old had bought an air ticket to meet a Korean boy band, while the 23-year-old had used her air ticket to shop at the retail stores in the transit area. They both had no intention to depart Singapore.

In 2017, the Police have arrested 92 persons for the misuse of boarding passes.

The Police would like to remind all passengers that the transit areas of Changi Airport are gazetted as Protected Places and passengers who enter the transit areas with a boarding pass should only be there for the purpose of travelling to their next destinations. Those who misuse their boarding pass to enter into the transit areas, with no intention to proceed to their next destinations, are liable for an offence under the Protected Areas and Protected Places Act. The offender may be prosecuted in Court and shall be liable on conviction to a fine of $1,000 or to imprisonment for a term of 2 years or to both.

Lmao really? I wonder if that’s illegal in the US. I can’t believe people would actually waste money just to do that.

You can get air tickets for less than $50 if flying on a budget airline from Singapore to Malaysia, sooo I guess that's pretty cheap for a chance to meet a kpop idol from that perspective /shrugs

Back in my day (..) when I flew Singapore Air you'd get a voucher for 40% off any purchase in Changi, maybe if that's still going on and they found a cheap ticket they could still save a bunch of money idk.

I really wish other airports could crack down on stuff like this. It's one thing when it's just a couple of fans, but the absolute MOB of fans awaiting idols at airports has got to make things a nightmare for airport staff and security. They shouldn't have to deal with that.

In a way, you have to respect ELF. They’ve kept up that level of crazy for going on 13 years!

I just want the amount of disposable income you’d need to buy a plane ticket for reasons other than flying. I’d use it for better things. Like actually flying somewhere.

I didn't know if buying a plane ticket and not actually flying but hanging out in the airport is a crime :/

Me neither lol! Mostly because the idea of hanging out at one (no matter what reason) sounds like hell to me

"Hell" is not an adjective applicable to the world's #1 airport.

Between this and the Wanna One fansites arrested in Malaysia, fans need to get their heads straight.
