eunbin? from clc? clc eunbin? clc's maknae kwon eunbin? who literally just turned 18 last month? wasting zero time i see. sexy concept comeback incoming
idt the pole dancing is specifically for a sexy concept but i feel like cube is going to make the group do one now that all the members are 18 and if she's been taking pole dancing classes while she was under 18... :/
eh, hobgoblin was "sexier" than their previous comebacks particularly for some members like seungyeon, but that wouldn't be one of the first things that comes to mind when i think of it. whereas pole dancing, especially to this song, is inherently sexual. i'm all for teens experimenting with and expressing their sexuality, but pole dancing isn't an age-appropriate way to do that. even if she wanted to do it she should have been told to wait. this is a teen being taught how to pole dance, by adults, while underage... and then being given a public platform for it practically the second she turns 18. it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
oh yeah for sure hobgoblin isn't 'in your face sexy'; It's more on the sense of the 'sexier realm' for them. iirc she took her classes with Seungyeon, which in a way is both 'f*ck they're pushing Seungyeon into more sexy thing' but also makes me glad Eun Bin wasn't alone.
I do wish she was dancing to another song and with a more sport oriented outfit and again I do fear certain fan reaction. But as someone who has never seen pole dancing irl outside of gyms or sport club I'm mostly impressed by her control and performance. Don't get me wrong I do know that pole dance is associated with eroticism but I wouldn't say it's inherently sexual.
However knowing cube and kpop in general it is worrying.
the version of pole dancing that you see in gyms or sport clubs is basically a sanitized, gentrified version of the strip club original. and i've seen statements from women who've worked as strippers and innovated pole dancing techniques and are not happy about it being co-opted into this context, especially without credit being given where it's due. but that's a whole other conversation. the main point is that, regardless of where it takes place now, pole dancing will always have its roots in strip clubs and will be associated with sexuality by the majority of people. eunbin is only a year older than somi... and do i want to see somi on a pole a year from now? hell no. i'm sure younger fans closer to their age will feel differently, but ya know. many teens tend to underestimate the dangers of being sexualized.
The origin of pole dance itself is up for debate but as you said 'a whole other conversation'
I don't disagree with you on this being worrisom because this is kpop, an industry we know tend to overly sexualise women, but I still think she's impressive and did well. And I don't think it should be taken away from her.
The outfit she's wearing in the beginning is actually fairly tame for pole-dancing.Pole-dancing is not the kind of activity that can be easily done in sweats or leggings, you need the bare skin to get a grip and create friction
see I've always wondered about sweat. I know some pole dancer use product on their hands, and they favor shorts and tank top or even sport bra, but I've seen some demo last for so long and the girls actually do sweat a bit (they're human and the spotlight don't help) I always wonder how they don't slip and fall (I know my ass would be on the floor quick)
QUEEN! pole dancing is so impressive and requires so much strength. was kinda hoping clc would do something with pole-dancing a la after school, that would be amazing and it would get them attention. ah i wish i could take lessons but my knees weak arms spaghetti
Her moves were so smooth and controlled, she's been learning for one year so it's super impressive. I wish they would have picked a different song/concept (more sport oriented and maybe call it "girl crush" to fit in with the current popular keyword? idk) because, as in yesterday's post, I'm still super uncomfortable with it (she just turned 18...)
Gorgeous! I did pole fitness for a couple of years, and she's got some skill. I could be wrong, but it looks like she's using a spinny pole. So what she's doing is more impressive.
OT but i love how cube just dropped the video out of nowhere while FNC releases teasers and call it chanmi's "special project" when its basically the same
CUBE has been good for the most of 2017 and started on the right foot this 2018 (so far). I really hope they continue to release special videos like this.
Pole dancing is always impressive but men ruin everything and CLC’s Korean fan base is made up of the worst kind so unfortunately I can only feel one way about this lol.
I know nothing about their fanbase but I could only think about how their male fans will sexualize every single second of this while watching the video, do some weird editings aka those one who do close ups fancams.
Lol selena gomez music is a guilty pleasure of mine and I've always admired pole dancing so I loved this. I want to take up pole dancing soooo bad now.

My main issue would be with how certain fans can react to it >.<
