A total of 19 fans of WANNA ONE, 7 of whom are Korean, were reportedly arrested in Malaysia recently in connection with WANNA ONE’s fanmeeting there. Why? Because they were on tourist visas and went to the country to sell goods, which violates Malaysian law.

Definitely shouldn’t have fucked around with that shit in Malaysia, especially since people are saying they were brazen enough to setup booths and shit.

Honestly though, my coverage of this was just an excuse to post this video of fansites crawling through bushes and shit to avoid security checks like commandos at war.

Twitterthread that explains the whole thing:

when fansites come to the states to sell their goods it's always really discreet and they always delete their tweets super quick so even if you've already secured a bag (which i've done once) if you don't see their tweet and find them asap you're shit out of luck. i can't believe the gall of these people to set up actual stalls (if it's true). also i cannot believe how far fansites will go to skip lines and shit when they see their faves every other damn day. you're not going to be unemployed if you don't take pics at one event

W1 fansite are in another level bcos everyone knows that u gotta do it in discreet, we had kwave concert the week before and there were nothing like this happening. I thought the news was fake at first bcos who got arrested selling merchandise bcos they keep changing the damn location but when i lurk around the local twitter the news is pretty legit about them opening a stall.

Addition, the local police does not play when it comes to illegal stall bcos even local get chased for opening one.

i rly hate fansites making money off stalking idols through goods and donations. idc if they provide pics of their/my/everyone's faves. they're getting paid to be sasaengs there's not grey area for me with them.

and then you see the gifts they give idols for their birthdays...they're making so much money doing this.

i also have some bitter feelings about their technical skills and ethics in regards to retouching but I'll leave my bitter professional photographer feelings for another time.

Not to mention they are usually rude and entitled af, i had few experiences with them and it was never pleasant.

lmao I'm glad I've found someone who resents fansites as much as I do. They are literally professional sasaengs, mostly spoiled from rich families using their privilege and resources to break laws and stalk people for pale blog pics. No thanks. I'm a little biased tho, I pm lost a friend to fansites - once she moved to Korea and got involved in working with fansites she went from a chill, normal kpop fan to a total psycho who blocked me for saying it's ridiculous to spend $10,000 to meet oppa lmao.

Fansites have no sense of boundaries or respect for the people putting on the shows onstage and off. they’re too busy shooting with their huge zoom lenses.

I appreciate those that calmly record video or stream but most of those aren’t fansites they’re just fans wanting to share the experience. And I can agree with that.

The stuff in this post...unacceptable.

I didn’t even know some idols who I’m a fan of had scars on their faces until literally 3 weeks it’s just beyond.

Nine times out of ten, when someone tells me a they had a bad experience at an idol concert, it involves shitty fansite behavior, without fail LOL.

More idols need to reject fansite gifts. The ones who feel ownership over them drop off so fast when those feeling aren’t reciprocated.

I am forever thankful to fansites who uploads videos and amazing pictures of my faves as I cannot come to all of their concerts/fanmeets. I used to wonder how they are able to take amazing pictures and videos then I got to follow some fansites and found that some of them really work hard as a group for these things. Some are legit nice and does good things for their faves while some are rude and just money-grubbers. I do not like/support fansites who are only there to milk money off fans, those who are sasaengs.

Having seen these video clips, I dunno if these fans are legit supporters Wanna One or just there to earn some cash.

Not in the least surprised. I was in for a cultural shock when I went to EXO's concert the first time they brought their tour here. Some of the K-fansites were nuts as fukk!
