Lay is the main MC of the show. Jackson (rap), Kyulkyung (dance), Cheng Xiao (dance), Henry (vocal) and Victoria (dance) will also be part of this show as mentors. Faces you may be familiar with are former Broduce 98 trainees Justin (final rank 43) and Zhu Zhengting (final rank 51) from Yuehua Entertainment and Fan Bingbing's younger brother Fan Chengcheng, who is currently training to become a K-Pop idol.

i don't know if this show is an official remake approved by Mnet or if they are blatantly copying it. I just got told that this one here is most likely a copy since another Chinese broadcaster bought the official rights to produce the girl group version.
i can't believe they even continue the trend of having "pick me" in their official song.

I can't believe SME is so involved in this show when I thought it was a blatant copy of the korean version and I remember reading there was even some sort of legal dispute?

But I will watch it lmao, -i hope it gets subbed.

Its 80% likely that's its just a blatant copy. But I haven't seen any commercials or ads for it here idk how popular it is.

I'm confused as to the point of the show here tho. Idols aren't really popular? The closest I can think of are the tfboys and maybe Jackson/luhan but they are marketed as entertainers instead of idols

Sm is probably going to sign some as idols for global appeal, so they'll go into kpop im sure.

Lol at Henry as a singing mentor. Lol.

But Lay was lookin' fine sitting there judging them and being blunt. But sadly i have 2 new thirsts; Jungkook and Jimin.

this show tries to cater a lot to global audience. i really don't understand what their plan here. to ship the produced idols out of china maybe?

K-entertainment is like Korea's second largest export. Maybe China wants to be the dominant entertainment export throughout Asia. If it's C-pop and C-movies instead of Korean it would be a powerful propaganda tool as well as $$$.

where do you see it as being catered to a global audience? I thought the main audience are Chinese fans... they're trying to create a successful Chinese idol group (since there hasn't been any since TFboys)

they have twitter. and tweet in english iirc. and korean media reported it first, before the chinese ones, bc i remember an omona member commenting they didnt see anything from chinese media. i dont remember what else, but i remember there's a lot of info released in english instead of chinese when the show first announced.

i'm so confused when it comes to these judges 😕

it looks like lay will be brutally honest when it comes to these trainees. which is a good thing cause i hate watching survival shows where judges stunt contestants' improvement by only mentioning their positive points.

and so i just got to this, and i nearly suffocated on a piece of fussili when yixing came through with the "you should work harder" type of stuff

i'm sure he's being much nicer then his 'judges' from years ago, but still it's woww
