ok this is the first time i've really paid attention to a new gen girl group lmfao. this is so good. it makes me remember t-ara. is there a primer post for them somewhere ?
I don't remember seeing a primer for them TT Anyway they're a 9-member group from producers Duble Sidekick's company (the team produced APink's Mr Chu, Bestie's Excuse Me, and a lot of songs for Girl's Day and Sistar among others). They had a predebut survival show, Finding Momoland, that wasn't really followed and their debut in 2016 wasn't really successful either. They added two members (Daisy, the one with the ears lol as rap/vocals, and Taeha as part of the vocal line), and are releasing their third mini-album right now. This is what made them blow up : https://youtu.be/ATys81cETt8 and especially JooE at 1:36, the member with blond piggitails. JooE's extra self got a CF out of this : https://youtu.be/Rc3KRnCizT8 and now she's the group center! The company seems to have totally rebranded the group as something fun and upbeat after JooE got attention, which I'm really happy about!
ok they're amazing. do they put dabs into all their choreo? anyways im going to promote them everywhere now and hopefully we can achieve the next gangnam style!
i really like the chorus, it sounds dated in a good way. still not totally sold on the verses but i think i'll grow to like them. that beat change was totally unnecessary tho
did the ppl behind the red flavor mv also direct this? if not, the inspiration is kind of obvious lol. anyway, the song's a solid banger, i esp love the chorus momoland and gugudan are shaping up to become the 3rd gens orange caramel n crayon pop and i'm here for it
amen! rv has that quirky image too but they've never gone full kitsch (i don't know if i even want them to tbh) so i'm glad we have other ggs now seemingly taking the orange caramel spirit to heart. i just wish they were a bit older though, it feels more self-aware that way
i... think so? tbh home shopping networks seem like a very american thing to begin with, but i've heard others say that's what it's supposed to resemble. in "red flavor" it was a bit more trippy tho, the format was used for an interview setting (with fruits!)
I love this song, the lyrics not my fav but it's really catchy! Daisy's rapping was a pleasant surprise , I wasn't expecting that! Also Jooe has been my favorite from the beginning so to her finally getting the attention she deserves is awesome. Get that center spot girl
In 2018, I'm going to explore more girl groups and my isn't this is a good way to do that! The song gives me T-ara/orange Caramel vibes! I like it alot and its fun to dance to! And I suspect that Jooe is the blondie? She looks adorable.
JooE is the blondie yes!!! I linked her iconic performance + following CF in a comment to @musicflyer if you want to check them :) If you like Orange Caramel then, after checking up Momoland, you can watch Gugudan's Chococo (https://youtu.be/vLVSf_yI_r8) and Ice Chu (https://youtu.be/ZN6aso7870c) (by sub-unit), both had heavy OC vibes! Hit me up if you need more recs, girl groups are life <3
this orange caramel realness, I LOVED IT. the video is fun, the dance is cute yet fun and I even liked the rap part (get that dance break <3). I hope they get really popular with this.
i didn't even realize they had added taeha and daisy until like last week oops. i feel like kpop has had a void of fun catchy bouncy songs like this recently so i love this!!
I liked their debut song but didn’t like the following track and kind of didn’t keep up with them so them having a sudden popularity has been something surprising to learn upon entering this post lol.
I’m glad someone else mentioned Red Flavor cause the video reminded me of it as well.
The song is cute (minus the rap break) and reminds me of older Kpop songs a bit. Not super impressive but it did at least capture my attention and I hope this leads to some where good for the group. They have potential.
i can def see what people mean by OC vibes! I'm also in the group of people who like the chorus a lot and feel like the rest'll grow on me i thought the reference's to JooE's tropicana sparkling ads were cute! it was cute, all of it

Date: 2018-01-04 11:30 am (UTC)I'm so impressed, this reminds me of something T-ara would release especially in 2009-2010 in K-pop. I hope this song smashes for them in Korea.
