for those unaware: shinee is slated to hold a small series of dome concerts in february. the concerts were set up in a way to visibly celebrate their past five tours and albums in japan, and possibly serve as their final dome concerts before onew's enlistment. shinee world japan, their japanese fan club, released a similar statement late on the 23rd and this seemed to be the follow up by sm. speculation is that the statement was released because registration for fan club lottery ticketing was meant to come to a close yesterday.

i spaced out after this was accepted but, basically: if they want to go through with this i'll respect their decision and support them with everything i can. and i can understand why they would feel like working could help them out (considering that taemin is apparently performing at kbs gayo on the 29th) but i personally? feel like if they're going back into work soon it'd be safer for them mentally if it were solo work. minho has been filming that kim jee woon movie since summer and he probably has to get back to it soon (if he hasn't already), taemin has to continue on with the unit, etc.

like haymitch said above: jonghyun's voice was such an integral part of their music and it's not like this is just two or three years of music that we're talking about. it's ten years. hundreds of songs between both japan and korea. in order to go forward with this concert they'd either have: split up his lines between the other members or perform to an audio recording of his voice. and i can't imagine they'd be ready for that so soon? if ever? it'd just be a constant reminder and i know they're all strong but a person can only take so much. they'd also need to perform almost every song that uses choreo with a back up dancer in his place - specifically get the treasure which legitimately has a part of the choreo looped around "this is shinee five and we're right by your side". i just ... don't know. i want them to continue if they feel they need to but i also want them to do it for themselves (and the memory of jonghyun) and not for the sake of either shawols or sm because most shawols that i've spoken to have said they'd understand if they want to just ... go on indefinite hiatus from this point onward. they could barely handle performing without jinki at the dome concerts in september and this? is on another level.

I agree solo work might make more sense than group work right now. I can't imagine the logistics of the dome tour right now. Playing a voice recording just seems like an invitation to misery.

"playing a voice recording just seems like an invitation to misery." mte? and it'd be awful because, knowing them, they'd try their hardest to make it seem like they're okay and they don't owe anything like that to us. like honestly??? imo? all they owe to us right now is listening to what we're saying, re: wanting them to take their time. like... if they wanna do one thing fans are asking them it should be that.

Right. They shouldn't do anything just because they think we want it. If their heart isn't in it we'll know and it's not worth it. Plus I don't want them to be like... permanently traumatized by coming back too soon.

exactly. plus if they did they wouldn't just be dealing with the obvious but they'd have to be in front of 55,000+ heartbroken shawols and that's a lot... of sadness to have to face so soon after.

Yeah, it just seems like it would be bad for everyone, emotionally.

EDIT: And they need to not rush this decision, like they need to take their time because with emotions being so raw what they want to do today might not be what they want to do a week from now or in February.

see. that's what i'm afraid of: it being rushed. sm are saying that they're taking the thoughts and feelings of the others into account but ... i know that, at the end of the day, it's still a job and it's a still a business and that if it's not happening it'll prob have to be decided upon in the next week or two. because if they are going through with it they'd have to begin going through the ... painful task of figuring everything out probably around the middle of january.

Yeah. It's just bad because I can just imagine them saying "it hurts now, but we should be fine by February, let's do it." And then February rolls around and they're not ready.

oh no. don't worry! i'm fine with talking to people. even if it's about... sad stuff at least it's a way to not keep it in my head, iynwim?

but yeah. that's another worry of mine: that they'll feel this boost of adrenaline to go through with it and then it'll hit them either when they're practicing or during the first concert.

not only is jonghyun's voice integral and that it'd be hundreds of songs + choreos, but it's also that to even incorporate that many changes for a tour that's barely two months away, they'd have to practice so much and that in itself, aside from the logistics, will be so exhausting - both mentally and physically and i just want them all to be able to get enough time to mourn and grieve properly, to find their footing and slowly work towards achieving at least a somewhat stable happiness, if that's possible. and as much as i'd support and respect their decision either way, i really just want them, like you said, to do it for themselves and jonghyun in the end, not for whatever nonexistent duty to the fans they may feel they have

exactly. someone else said this in here but their choreo is very ... centric on five, and not even in the way that's easy to work around. you need five people to do the propeller move in everybody, you need five for the star move in get the treasure. jonghyun is the center part of that arm lifting move in sherlock and he's the one carried at the start of married to the music. sure, you can get a back up dancer to cover and they've done that in the past but it's always been because one of the members had an overlapping schedule, not because one died. sigh.

right? even beginning to tackle the choreography and vocals issue would be so exhausting and draining, i want them to have time to really think through all this and take care of themselves first.

also i didn't get to reply in the other post because i took a break from omona, but i'm glad and proud that you're trying your best and the fyjjong blog has really been helping me, i've been visiting it a lot even though i've closed my tumblr. i hope you've been taking better care of yourself these days, and just lots of love and hugs for you ♡♡♡

plus it's not like this is some random festival that they're attending. it's a dome concert. dome concerts are always set up to be a minimum of two and a half hours, and they'll be happening less than two months after his passing. maybe at that point they'll be going about their lives the best they can without him, but it'd likely be a shock to their system having to attribute that to their career as well. it'd probably be like having to mourn him twice over.

but. ah. ♡♡♡♡ i really appreciate you saying that. fyjjong is basically... the only reason why i've gone on tumblr in the last year, and i felt i owed it to my followers to be there for them. honestly i think i'm feeling the best today than i have since it happened but i still need to do better for myself. ;;

and it'll be several dome concerts? to perform that over and over again, in such a large setting, to go through all the changes, even thinking about it is just tiring. i hope they can reach a decision which is the best for all of them ;;

ah i really wish that you didn't feel like you owed anyone anything ;; what you're doing is wonderful but i really hope that now you don't feel like you have to do something for others via fyjjong. and i'm glad that you're feeling the best today since it happened. take your time, the steps will come slowly, one by one <3

it's just... i don't know. it's not just jonghyun either - all the members have a very specific uniqueness that they attribute to the group and having to either wipe one fifth of that out or work around it ... god.
