Flashback Friday

Doing something different for this week’s Flashback Friday. Mainly because 5 week months are annoying and throw me off. So I thought I’d take an easy way out this week lol. But also because tomorrow marks the final episode of Infinite Challenge. Infinite Challenge is a variety show on MBC that has been running for 12 years. Led by the Nation’s MC, Yoo Jae Suk, the Nation’s Variety Show is a group gets together every week to accomplish a mission or “challenge”. Most of the time the challenge only lasts a week, but some will go on for weeks or even months.

FTISLAND’s Lee Hong Ki is teaming up with N.Flying member Yoo Hoe Seung for a special release!

On March 29, news outlet OSEN reported that Lee Hong Ki and Yoo Hoe Seung will release a collaboration track in early April.

Their agency FNC Entertainment is launching SM Station 2.0 a new music platform, and the two vocalists will be the first ones to take part in this special project.

A Seoul court on Wednesday refused to issue an arrest warrant for former South Chungcheong Province Gov. Ahn Hee-Jung on sexual offense charges.

The Seoul Western District Court made the decision, saying that there is a low risk of him fleeing or destroying evidence.

Apparently this past Sunday, a feminist group said they represented two women who worked on An’s presidential campaign last year. During his campaign, he (allegedly) hugged one woman in an elevator and touched the thigh of another woman at a dinner gathering.

Summary:

• idols that debut are left with a huge debt which includes the costs of music videos, songs, recording, outfits, MV sets & shooting, album production


• their debt also includes the costs for their outfits, meals etc. for music programs


• one promotion cycle costs 500 million won for one group (they later divide it per person), including album production, MV making, fanmeeting


• idols don't earn any money by appearing on music programs


• they earn money by attending public events, concerts, overseas activites, album sales, but it's difficult to earn 500 million won from that


• it's difficult to sell 100k or even 10k because nobody buys albums these days because of streaming


• fans buy albums to get into fansigns or to collect them but the public (non-fans) don't have a reason to buy albums


• because they have to split their earnings with the company it's even more difficult to pay off their debt


• his example: if the contract has a 5:5 earning ratio and they earn 100 million won, the agency gets 50 million and the group gets 50 million but have to divide it with the members, so if his group earns 100 million won he can only receive 7 million won


• the money doesn't go to his bank account but is used to pay off his debt


• idols lack sleep, are tired both physically and mentally, have to face negative comments; doesn't recommend it


• MADTOWN were able to made surplus with their last album "Emptiness" because the MV was shot by an unknown director and in nature, thus they didn't have to pay for the set, and they got songs from songwriters who gave away their songs for cheap
