Twice to perform at NHK Kouhaku year end festival in Japan

This festival's a big deal over there, millions of people in Japan watch it! (and probably zero elsewhere in the world, thanks Japan! TT) It's by invitation only and the last Kpop acts to get to perform were SNSD, Kara and TVXQ in 2011.

The Japanese members must be super excited, I doubt they ever expected their homecoming would be this successful. Sana couldn't even keep still at the press conference.

Miura Daichi on Kouhaku has made me so happy! He is a great performer and deserves it after all these years. He was so delighted to perform at night on A-Nation this year, cute!

Lots of J-pop communities are freaking out about this (negatively) so it's nice to see people happy about it.

I can't help being a little pessimistic though esp. when people point out how long it took Daichi Miura to get invited onto the show.

Jpop fans will praise Kouhaku up to the heavens when it's their fave being invited, but will call the show a flop whenever someone they don't like makes it in lol the same thing happened when AKB and E-girls were invited and it's so transparent, but I live for the haters' tears. Being able to achieve this only two years after debut and not even one year in Japan? it is impressive and you can't downplay this.

As for the invite system IA it is kind of a mess and they pick and drop artists at random but then there's the same old faces that noone really cares about anymore. They also took a long time to finally invite Shiina Ringo into the show, along with many others.

There was a big Twice truck playing One More Time around Shibuya when I was there around Halloween and their big poster was on the 109 building, so it seems like they're getting some recognition there at least
