It’s literally a month lol. Like all it did was push them from December of 89-90 to to January 90-91 (although I thought for Hyolyn it was February).
It’s not even a year they still the same age!!! I forget about the lunar calendar (not relevant where I’m from) but even then...eh...
While I doubt they (the ladies and the company) are the only ones to fudge their age in K pop, this seems unnecessary. Also @ them semi complaining about fans celebrating birthdays on the wrong day...they will live.

even though it's sad that they've to change their birth year to look younger for kpop, I think it was still kind of well done by starship because it doesn't really change their social interactions regarding korean hierarchy. right?! if their "fake" birthdays are that early in the year, wouldn't they still be considered the same age as the real date? like bora being born in dec 89 or jan 90 would still make her same age friends with 89 people because or her early birthday.

I learned to never really think about a kpop idol age in terms of how many years, but more in terms of the year they were born and the month (for these cases of a jan/feb birthday). like I never though how old bora was, just that she was sunggyu's same age friend for example. so it doesn't really change that much in their case (if they had changed from dec 89 to dec 90, it would be a different case lol)

ahahah with Alex they stated her age as 1995 (same as Hyeme and Zi.U) which was ridiculous.. there's evidence she's an 89liner (allkpoop has an article) but some people believe she's a 92liner. I think she's most likely a 89liner.. I asked her (in person) about this after she left the group but she said legally she's still not allowed to speak about this age thing even though her contract is over. ridiculous that DR goes to such lengths to cover up something totally insignificant but there you have it..

Idols are products. Their companies change their names, their behaviors, their faces via plastic surgery and makeup, and commonly their vital stats such as height and weight, all to make the most appealing product possible. Sistar aren't the first to change their birthdates and they won't be the last.

I distinctly remember BEG owning up to being like 4 inches shorter and 3 years older (minus actual youngin Ga-In) than their profiles said. Profiles should not be taken as gospel truth.

I'm surprised at people caring when I know of multiple idols with similar age discrepancies due to their registered birthday being different to their actual date of birth (JYJ's Junsu and I think someone in Shinhwa as well). It's really not a big deal lol.

Yeah, but that's a case of his parents not registering his birth (http://fuckyeahchoisiwon.tumblr.com/faq) until almost a year after it happened (brb taking a shower because I linked a siwon fan page). It's the same with Song Hyekyo, but I think in her case it was because she was very sick at birth, whereas I don't remember ever seeing a reason for Siwon.
