The Korean Pop industry is filled with laughable English. From “fiscal theory of porno” to “easy access line,” Korean Pop creates fluidities in the English language that simply do not exist. Call me an ignorant supremacist, but phrases like “if you wanna pretty, every wanna pretty,” “I wanna gossip girl,” and “blue tumbler like a puppy lover,” are so hilarious that I’m pretty sure my entrails are just floating around in the cavity of my body. But alas, while all the bad Engrish has kept my guts bursting for hours upon hours, I have found another source of entertainment, another source of entertainment that still involves English, K-Pop, and the massacre of the former by the latter.

A South Korean woman who suffered repeated sexual harassment at work will be awarded compensation, the state workers' welfare agency said in a landmark ruling which acknowledged her suffering amounted to a work-related injury.

Saturday's judgment marked the first time that suffering caused by sexual harassment has been classed as a workplace injury, and many other victims are now likely to file similar appeals with the agency, the Yonhap news service reported.

According to the Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service, the woman, whose name was withheld for reasons of privacy, had suffered from unwelcome sexual advances from two men at her company since 2009.

The woman, who worked at an autoparts maker in the southwestern city of Asan for the past 14 years, was repeatedly groped, and also received lewd text messages.

A medical document said she was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, experiencing intrusive recollections of the harassment, showed exaggerated startle response and suffered from a sleep disorder.

The National Human Rights Commission earlier recommended that the two male officials should pay a total of nine million won (US$7,725) in compensation.

The victim will be paid for her medical expenses and receive other financial compensation, the welfare agency said.

A SOUTH Korean Christian pastor has been jailed for 18 months for having a decade-long affair with a woman whose wedding he had officiated at, a court said.

Adultery in South Korea is a criminal offence punishable by up to two years in prison, but most offenders usually receive only suspended jail terms and imprisonment is quite rare.

The 51-year-old pastor, whose name has been withheld for privacy, had a secret affair with the woman, 41, for more than 10 years after conducting her marriage ceremony. She and her husband were both followers of his church.

The woman was also given a year-long jail sentence.

"The pastor, who officiated at the couple's wedding, should have prayed for their happy marriage life," the court in central city of Cheongju said in a statement today.

"Stern punishment should be meted out to the accused who greatly disturbed basic social order and left bitter feelings of betrayal among many others."

The court handed out the jail sentences yesterday.

The adultery trial started after the husband pressed charges against his wife and the pastor. The couple have subsequently divorced.

There have been many boy-meets-girl or boy-meets-boy love stories in mainstream cinema in Korea, but none about lesbians.

So when director Kim Su-hyeon’s “Life is Peachy” was screened for the press on Nov. 16, it certainly attracted attention.

The film revolves around three lesbians and their intertwining relationships, with steamy sex scenes to boot.

Kim, who also wrote the screenplay, said he wrote the film out of what he later recognized as a misconception of same-sex relationships.

“I believed their love would be different and special, which is what made me write the story,” Kim told the media. “But as I developed the story, I realized I was wrong. Their love is the same as everyone else’s, so I changed my mind and tried to look at their love from the same perspective as I would for heterosexual couples.”
