On July 24th, SNSD held a press conference before their “2011 Girls’ Generation Tour” in Songpagu, Seoul, where they revealed their thoughts on their tour, their popularity, and on hitting their 20’s.
The girls began, “During our concert, we sang a ballad track. The fans threw a surprise event for us where they all held up a placard that said, ‘We missed you.’ It was so moving, we all ended up crying. It was an event brought together with one heart. It was us who had to give our fans joy, but we were grateful to receive such a moving present from our fans instead. We were able to work extra hard on our performances after that, so we’re very thankful.”

Idol group Infinite is sweeping online music charts.
Infinite ranked first on the Hanteo chart and other online music charts with the release of their first full length album and title track "Be Mine" on the 21st.
Infinite is gathering a lot of attention because they have risen past many other idol groups who have released albums at the same time.
Critic No Junyoung said, "Infinite is making 'Infinite-style' music stand out and they are securing their place in the music industry with their specialty music and performance," and, "Now, they are securing their place with record sales. Infinite will go down in K-pop history."

Big Bang's G-Dragon was chosen by female idols as the number 1 male idol with whom they would want to go on a spring outing. A poll was taken of all the female idols and staff members who attended the SBS "Inkigayo" Show in April.
In 2nd place came TVXQ's U-Know Yunho and Hwang Kwanghee with a tie. 3rd place was Big Bang's TOP and CN Blue's Jung Yonghwa, who also tied. BEAST's Yoon Doojoon came in 4th place, while his fellow member Lee Kikwang came in 5th.
When the female idols were asked why they chose G-Dragon, they said that his fashonista skills would help him make his girlfriend become a fashonista as well.
U-Know Yunho's "protective older brother" image and Hwang Kwanghee's refreshing gestures and unique voice led to female idols selecting them as 2nd place.
TOP, as a perfect man who epitomizes humor, manners, and a handsome face, and Jung Yonghwa, whose caring image was shown in MBC's "We Got Married", came in 3rd place.
Yoon Doojoon was chosen because of his image as the "boyfriend idol", while Lee Kikwang was chosen for his extravagant dance skills.

Various Korean artists mourn over the death of Amy Winehouse who passed away on the 23rd.
On the 24th, when Korean actor Cho Jaehyun was getting his haircut and was asked via twitter, "Who is this singer?", he felt proud that he had brought Amy Winehouse's album cover with him. He said, "I have accumulated a lot of her music and yet it still sounds refreshing to me."
Korean actress and singer Uhm Junghwa said sadly, "Amy Winehouse's husky nasal voice. Her hair that's tied to seemingly pierce the skies. Her thick eyeliner. The pink ballet shoes worn casually on her lean legs. We can no longer see any of it."

Korean pop band Someday said, "Rest In Peace, Amy Winehouse. Please rest in peace." Singer John Park who was the runner-up of Superstar K posted up, "amy".
Singer Park Jaebum (Jay Park) who was formerly part of 2PM said, "RIP Amy Winehouse!!!" and singer Yoon Mirae added, "R.I.P (Rest In Peace) Amy Winehouse!".
Amy Winehouse's body was discovered in her house in London at 3:56pm on the 23rd. The reason of her death has yet to be determined but initial assumption is that she died due to drug overdose.

On July 25th, representatives of SM Entertainment revealed that Choi Si Won’s grandmother had passed away on the 22nd.
Through Mydaily, SM Entertainment explained, “Choi Si Won’s grandmother has passed away and the coffin was borne out on the morning of the 25th.”
Choi Si Won has halted all of his schedules to mourn her death. On July 23rd, he had written on his Twitter, “My heart is ripping. But I must be stronger.”
Singer Brian Joo also wrote, “I just came from Si Won’s grandmother’s funeral and am overcome with sorrow… Everyone, please pray for them.”
