After School UEE dances to other girlgroups’ dances.

During SBS Strong Heart aired recently, UEE said, “Amongst the girlgroups, there has been rumours going around that ‘After School unnies are scary’. That is just misunderstanding.” She also added that there is a rumours that After School girls don’t listen to songs from other girlgroups.

She then proved the rumours wrong by dancing to the songs ‘Abracadabra’, ‘Mister’ and ‘LA chA tA’ on the show.

Meanwhile, it was said that UEE was seen close to tears after she was put on a phone call with Rain who is her ideal type.

TVXQ Chosen By Viewers Of American Talk Show ‘Ellen Degeneres Show’ As A Rising Star

TVXQ has been chosen by viewers of a famous American talk show as ‘the foreign artiste who should be introduced to Ellen’.

In the ‘Send Ellen Your International Music Suggestions!’ event that began on NBC’s ‘Ellen Degeners Show’ homepage in January, TVXQ received over 20,000 suggestions and was recorded as the artiste most suggested by netizens. This was achieved by a collaborative effort of fans in Korea as well as in Asia.

Many of the suggestions included the popularity of TVXQ/Tohoshinki in Japan and in Asia in general. This seems to be the work of fans across Asia coming together for a common cause.

With TVXQ being chosen as the singer with the most suggestions, many wonder if TVXQ will appear on the ‘Ellen Degeneres Show’. The ‘Ellen Degeneres Show’ is a representative talk show in America alongside ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ and is popular with around 10 million households tuning in. Even just appearing on the show will be a strong foundation for an entry into the American music market for TVXQ. The Ellen Degeneres Show homepage did state that the singer with the most suggestions may be asked to appear on the show.

Regarding this, TVXQ’s agency SM Entertainment stated, “We did hear about this but we have not yet received an official invitation.” He also continued to say, “Currently, TVXQ is split between U-Know Yunho-Choikang Changmin, and Xiah Junsu-YoungWoong Jaejoong-Micky Yoochun. At the current situation, it would not be easy for the five members to appear on the show together.” Currently, TVXQ is performing only in important events in Japan.

On SBS Strong Heart aired on 2nd February, C.N Blue vocalist Jung YongHwa talks about the nickname of ‘towel guy’ given to him for his role in drama ‘You’re Beautiful’.

And he did a live remake of the ‘towel scene’ in the studio, by demand, with gagwoman Jung JuRi. The only difference this time is that he changed his lines from “Because you are around I cannot wash up” to “Please wash up”.

SNSD's 2nd album 'Oh!' was released on January 28th. It has only been 6 months since their last album 'Genie,'
and in 2 years since 'Into The New World' they have released 7 albums.

On average they are releasing 1 album every 4 months. Even excluding their CFs such as 'Haptic Motion'
and 'Chocolate Love' it is approximately 1 album every 6 months. Many fans are happy about how SNSD
are able to perform frequently on stage, but a large number of fans are also very worried about SNSD's health.

T-ara, After School and BEAST have been awarded the newcomer singer awards at Seoul Music Awards at Seoul Olympic Park fencing stadium on 3rd February at 7pm.

Tak JaeHoon and After School UEE are the MCs for the 19th High1 Seoul Music Awards.

Meanwhile, the judging criteria for the 19th High1 Music Awards is 20% on mobile poll, 10% on SportsSeoul popularity level, 50% on album and music sales and 20% on panel judgement.

Goong to be turned into a musical

Four years after it was a drama sensation, Goong (aka Princess Hours) is being turned into a musical. (That means that the franchise has a manhwa, a drama, a drama spinoff, and now a theater production.)

Production company Group Eight announced on February 2 that the musical would open on September 3 at the Seoul National Museum’s theater,. Group Eight had reportedly considered the possibility of a musical adaptation from the outset, and this version will bring back the main producers of the drama series, including writer In Eun-ah (who’d gone on to write My Tutor Friend 2, Love & Marriage, and — surprisingly? — horror series Hon).

The Cinderella drama that catapulted Yoon Eun-hye and Joo Ji-hoon to stardom was known for its splendid visuals and costuming that mixed classical Korean hanbok and royal garb with a modern flair. The musical will also feature a fusion of song styles, from classical to hip-hop, jazz, and traditional Korean. Dancing will range from ballet (one of the main characters is a ballerina) to court dance to B-boying. Leads for the musical are currently being auditioned.

Coming back with her 4th album within this 2 months, it has been known that there is high possibility that sexy queen Lee Hyori’s comeback title song may be a foreign song.

A representative revealed recently, “It is likely that we will use a foreign song for Lee Hyori’s new album title song. The songs written by the composers who worked with Lee Hyori for the album are said to be not what Hyori is looking for, hence it seems that it has been decided that a foreign song with a new style will be chosen as the title song.”

After School’s Kahi (Ga-hee) must’ve been pretty tired.

On the February 2nd broadcast of SBS variety program “Strong Heart,” the V-lined After School member fell fast asleep during the show. Some of the stories on “Strong Heart” put me right to sleep too.

While Kim Jung-min was telling his story, the After School member was dozing on and off, until she fell fast asleep.

Super Junior is Rude Apparently

Idol group Super Junior just can’t seem to stay away from controversy.

Last night, the 19th High1 Seoul Music Awards took place, where Super Junior picked up three awards. But it was also Super Junior member Kyuhyun’s 22nd birthday.

Anyway, during the awards show, Super Junior members celebrated Kyuhyun’s birthday at their table with a birthday cake. Netizens are appalled at this behavior, as they found it rude that they would do such an act at a prestigious awards ceremony. Their reasoning is that, instead of honoring and celebrating the artists who were winning awards on stage, they brought out a cake to celebrate Kyuhyun’s birthday. In addition, there was a magic show on stage from Lee Eun Kyul, but because of Super Junior’s celebration, all of the attention was shifted onto them, furthering the anger from netizens.

Insooni to Be 1st Korean to Revisit Carnegie Hall

Singer Insooni will be the first Korean to perform at Carnegie Hall twice, and also for two consecutive days.

Yonhap News Agency reported that the 52-year-old singer was preparing for her second concert at the famous venue slated for Feb. 4 and 5. Her last show at the concert hall was in 1999.

This particular performance will be special as she is inviting 100 war veterans that fought in the Korean War (1950-53) and also U.N. ambassadors from the countries that sent troops to Korea during the war.

"I call the war veterans my fathers. I would like to tell them to brush off the burden of having a child living somewhere in Korea," Insooni said during a press conference in New Jersey, Tuesday.

‘Serial animal killer’ can’t be imprisoned under Korean law

Man confessed to feeding adopted poodle box cutters, dumping newborn puppies, but he can only be fined, provoking call for stricter animal cruelty legislation


Protesters demonstrate at Seoul Plaza in front of City Hall on Jan. 24 in favor of harsher punishments for animal cruelty. Under current law, animal abuse can only be punished by a fine of up to 5 million won (4,350 dollar). No sentence can include jail time.

Three weeks ago, the SBS television show “Animal Farm” ran a feature on a man media outlets are calling “Korea’s first serial killer of animals.”

The man in his 40s, who lives in southeastern Seoul, allegedly pulled out the claws of a poodle with pliers and burned it with a lighter. He also said he forced the dog, one of several he had adopted over the Internet, to swallow box cutters, which later led to its death, and confessed to beating other dogs to death and putting newborn puppies into a public trash can. Though he only told the police about killing eight animals, officials say it is likely he killed more.

He is still being investigated by the Songpa District police and is awaiting indictment.

Lee Kwang-gi Donates to Haiti in Memory of Late Son

Actor Lee Kwang-gi has donated to Haiti the insurance compensation he received after his seven-year-old son Seok-gyu died from the H1N1 flu in November last year, international emergency relief agency World Vision announced on Tuesday.

"It was heartrending to see so many Haitian parents in agony after losing their children to the earthquake, as I was in a similar situation," Lee said in a telephone interview with the Chosun Ilbo. "It was just a few million won [some thousand dollars]. The amount isn't that great, but I hope it helps them find some hope in life again."

"Seok-gyu received so much love from us and other people, but was too young to share what he had with others in need. I'd like to think of it as his first and last donation," he added.

Since Seok-gyu's death, Lee's family has been sponsoring other seven-year-old children in Africa and Indonesia through World Vision. Lee is scheduled to depart for Haiti to film a TV program on Feb. 11.

"We haven't been able to throw away any of Seok-gyu's clothes," Lee said. "I'm planning to bring as many of his clothes as possible, even if it means I can't carry much of my own stuff, and give them to children in Haiti."

Ivy: "The 3rd comeback, sad that it's over so soon."

Singer Ivy has revealed her thoughts on completing her 3rd album activities.

Ivy (real name Park Eun Hye) wrote in her cyworld on February 2 with the title "hello, it's Ivy", and asked of her fans' health, saying "it's been a long time since I've said hello to my fans. it's getting chilly, is everyone ok? I'm doing fine".

She also talked a bit about her feelings, saying that she "finished [her] 3rd album activies on Inkigayo not so long ago" and that she was "very sad that it was already over, because it only felt like yesterday that [she] was on her 3rd album comeback stage".

Also, she added that there were sleepless nights before she released her 3rd album where she asked herself "will I be able to go on stage tomorrow?" and "will I be able to sing again?", and thanked her fans for "helping [her] every time she felt weak and small".

She also said, "although I was not able to perform more and meet more fans, I was happy because I was able to go on the stage again and sing", and she showed her determination, saying, "this is the beginning. when there is an end, there is also a beginning! I'll be back for a new beginning after I learn more".

She said that she was planning on practicing her singing and dancing a lot more, remembering the early days when she had just debuted, and that she will become Ivy who tries her best.

She also added that she will be back soon with a new image that will surprise everyone, and asked her fans to continue supporting her.

Ivy has completed her 3rd album activities on the 23rd of January with a performance on Inkigayo.
