Choi Siwon To Sit Out During Super Junior’s Upcoming Comeback

Choi Siwon will not be promoting on broadcasts with Super Junior.

Label SJ stated on October 31, “Choi Siwon will regrettably not be participating in Super Junior’s broadcast promotions when they make a comeback on November 6 with their eighth full album, ‘PLAY.’ We sincerely apologize to the fans.” The agency did not give any further explanation at this time.

This means that Choi Siwon will most likely not be appearing on any music show performances nor variety shows, such as the already filmed, upcoming episode of “Ask Us Anything” featuring Super Junior. He will still be featured in the group’s music video and album itself.

As for Super Junior’s upcoming concerts in December, nothing has been decided about Choi Siwon’s participation.

Meanwhile, Super Junior recently released a music video for “One More Chance” ahead of their comeback.

I would say "good" but let's be real here, when has he ever participated in Super Junior comebacks. He always ends up flaking on them, so this is probably what he wants.

I'm not a fan but I always read how dedicated he is to Super Junior. No matter how busy he is with activities, he will never missed any Super Show. Other members always missing when they do their concerts, but Siwon always there no matter how crazy is his schedule.

When I read that, it made me realised how dedicated he is to the group despite sometimes his other commitments always hinders him from being truly active in their comebacks.

Man I am way too lazy to hunt down instances of this, but it has happened for several comebacks. He will promote one week, or even not at all. It has always annoyed me, specially when people do go around saying he is the most dedicated.

I also remember one promotion cycle they did... I think it was one of the Super Junior M cycles, don't quote me... where he literally would just walk on stage for his part and then stand on the side. Perfection maybe? I think there were similar dancing issues with Break Down where people got upset so he started to do the whole song, and it was clear he didn't really know the dance. (In one live I remember him stopping and just staring at Zhoumi? I think? and then doing the move like 5 seconds late.)

This wasn't a Super Junior M only problem. I remember there were issues with No Other and A-cha? I really can't remember well. Probably others.

Also, I was a bit obsessed with lives. I still haven't had the heart to delete this folder, which has all their lives up until 2015. Maybe I took it a bit more personally since lives were the most important aspect of fandom for me.

Anyway, I think he does enjoy things like Super Show, and I think he has made it to all of those? But I have always gotten the vibe that he hates comeback cycles.

Also, yes, he was filming dramas. I get that idols can be busy, but what always annoyed me about this was Super Junior comes back once a year, if even, while other kpop acts have 3-5 comebacks a year, so the whole schedule thing was harder to buy for me. I just felt like he could have actually made the time if he "loves Super Junior so much?" I feel like someone with his demand could chose roles that do not conflict with the 3-4 weeks his band needs him? And hey, maybe this is SM's fault as well for not changing comeback dates so he could be there. SM sucks as we all know.

TL;DR I still think he would prefer to sit out of promotions.

Huh. I've been a ELF since the Don't Don era, and Siwon was always my bias. To me, it seemed he prioritized comebacks and promotions in comparison to the other guys. He was always full of enthusiasm and seemed happy to be there. Granted, I haven't been really checking for them for the past two-three years or so, so maybe he really changed. But I remember him from the early eras really being the one who seemed to love SJ the most. It's clear though he prefers working on dramas and being in the fashion world.

I was a fan since their debut, but like you, stopped 2-3 years ago. I think this started around 2010 maybe? I would say after BONAMANA?

EDIT: Also I am going to clarify that I do like all of the members, even the ones that upset me, and they will remain important to me forever, so I am not trying to be ~anti. Siwon was always one of my favorites despite him also being one of the members to upset me the most. (Homophobia, etc.)

in a car accident, back in 2006, he got two chronic injuries (i think back and ankle, not sure) that got worse in army ... those always affected group dance rutines but now he really feel like he shouldnt be dancing

I guess its the right thing to do (for Siwon not to join their comeback activities) but I still feel bad for SuJu fans. Waiting for a long time for this comeback then having very few members participate in it.
